Not sure if it is the case here but shows really seem to be stopping performers tweeting when they are on these days and it's becoming more and more common. Very sad. I'm not sure I understand that. Hamilton's own twitter (for example) seems to be happy to announce understudies, so why can't the performers themselves tweet about it? Are the performers in violation of contract, or something, if they announce they're performing a particular role that night? Yes many performers have told me they've been told off for tweeting. Not from his show, from other shows.

Asking if Kylie is taking over I was about to say I should be so lucky, but then again it could be Better the devil you know.

Signs all around the theatre about Lulu being indisposed.
Someone was sat in my seat, but he doesn’t seem to speak English, so I’ve just sat in another one instead.

Interval time and there are people sat behind clearly thinking they’re seeing Lulu. No one is correcting them.
(and this is the front of the stalls)
Very good so far. The Japanese guy nearby was conducting the overture, but thankfully stopped when the main show started. I was worried for a minute.

Post show thoughts. Solid performances as always and all the cast very comfortable now in their roles, including the covers.
Identical covers to when I saw this about two weeks ago as well, with the exception of Steph Perry.
And regarding Steph... vocally strong. She didn’t come across as someone who naturally does comedy, but maybe this will come with playing the role more. Looks rather young for the part too, but I guess you’d only notice near the front.
I wouldn’t make a special effort to see her cover the role again, but also wouldn’t be disappointed if she was on.
Whereas, I certainly will make an effort to see Lulu again before she concludes her run (although I still think there’s a good chance of this getting an extension).
Oh and a well-behaved audience which makes all the difference.

Did the notices mention the reason for Lulu's absence? I'm trying to figure out if she'll definitely not be performing tomorrow night, or if she might be back. If it's illness, it's often not just a single performance missed.

Maybe she has that gastric bug that's doing the rounds - the one that leaves people bathroom bound on the loo-loo. Someone in Chicago got it - and all that gas.

Quite honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Lulu had vocal issues. She really struggled vocally with the score even though it had been adapted to suit her style/range when I saw the show. I thought at the time her voice did not sound strong enough to complete the run.

If it's illness, it's often not just a single performance missed. The notices said something like "Due to the indisposition of Lulu, the role of Dorothy Brock will be played by Steph Parry." I would guess mild illness, but you're right, these tend to last several days.

They're not exactly going to say "Owing to having eaten a dodgy takeaway [name] is currently fountaining from both ends like you wouldn't believe. I mean, the police have put up an exclusion zone. It's a street-clearer, this one."

It would be great if they could get Elaine Paige to do this for a stint. I think she would be great in the part and it would be lovely to see her in a musical again. She'd play the diva very well and of course sing the hell out of it! It isn't too taxing a role in that she is barely in Act 2 but is enough of a "star" role to be attractive. EP would never do third cast. I am still hoping for Tracie Bennett. She would be brilliant as I mentioned before. Sooner Lulu goes the better only 9 weeks left of her hurrah!

I still find people are overreacting to Lulu way too much, but hey, what do I know.
If she extends, I wouldn't be mad about it. But Tracie Bennett I agree, should be the next in line.
