I just can't get over how old Ben Platt looks. I appreciate it's a musical and we have to suspend disbelief anyway, but is there a limit? Why did Platt have to be cast? I think they over-egged the pudding slightly in trying to make him look young. Almost everything they did to make him look young... actually made him look old. The hair, the make-up etc...

I was looking forward to seeing the movie version on Friday. The only showing at my cinema is like 4pm! Every day it is on it’s either around 4 (too early!) or 9 (too late!) Where’s Goldilocks when I need her?

Three perfs at VUE Manchester. 11.30, 4.50, 7.15. They’re not going to make any box office off it like that! The cinema release is obviously a half arsed pre-Netflix thing.

No showings at all at either of the 3 large cinemas in my city.

One wonders who is seeing Venom: Let There Be Carnage at ten o’clock in the morning!

Pulled in favour of more Bond and other better reviewed releases - French Dispatch and Dune, It”s all about what’ll put bums on seats and after the scathing reviews, this sadly won’t.

Just got back from seeing this at the cinema.
Only about 9 people in the audience and half way through two women walked out.
It's a relatively long film- just over 2 hours long.
On film, the way the lie spreads via social media is well demonstrated.
The singing seems natural and not forced.
I guess given the subject matter, there is only once (minor) dance routine in Sincerely, Me..
Although the the whole scene is there- to Break In A Glove has been cut. As has Anyone Have A Map
There is another song added called The Anonymous Ones.
What an odd and unique actor Ben Platt is. Full of spasms and facial twitches. His voice is also pretty unique.
You can see that they have tried to make him younger than he is. In some scenes at the beginning of the film, he looks ghostly white. In other scenes you can see his 5 o'clock shadow.
Amy Adams looks a little heavier set than usual whereas Julianne Moore is aged. Before anyone asks, yes, Julianne Moore does sing in So Big/So Small.
I have to admit, at times, as the lie grows at such a pace, it made me squirm in my seat and made me feel a little uncomfortable.
People will argue as to whether this is a faithful adaptation or not, I was pleased that another movie musical has been made with the male lead.
Go and see it if you can and make your own mind up.

I'm surprised Does Anybody Have a Map has been cut, as most musicals try to start with a more "upbeat" number.
I think it'll get decent views online when people can watch it as part of their streaming subscription.

Showing on TodayTix that this will have £30 rush when it reopens. Lets hope it lasts longer than the rush for other Delfont shows.

I worry it's really not selling very well... I wonder if it's anything to do with the film tanking so hard, or if it's just a victim of the fewer tourists and fewer people being happy going to the theatre problem. Rush tickets might stick around, though, if they're that desperate to fill seats.

You know I was thinking two things about the film;
Firstly, I wonder if the cut sings were actually filmed and they then might turn uo as deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-Ray release?
Finally, given that he's moved on to bigger things, now that he's committed the character to film, do we think this will be Ben Platt's last outing as Evan Hansen?
