It won't leave me alone!! honestly you write a PhD about reviving a play and both of them get revived a year later (this and Angels in America)
Looking forward to it. Clwyd have been doing good work (it's their production, going into the St James' and touring) and the further we get from the original the more people put their own stamp on it.
Cue all the same arguments about how it didn't work here etc etc.

Well looks like either a major cast change or closing for In the Heights with Philippa Stefani as Mimi Marquez! She will be amazing in this, I cant wait to see her!

Love the casting of Layton as Angel. It's been great seeing him go from strength to strength since his Billy days! Not sure about Ross Hunter as Roger though.

Meh. So not 'Rent Remixed' then? They should bring that back. It was HI-LA-RI-OUS!

I used to like RENT. Then I worked on a production of it. Seeing it 8 times a week really highlighted its flaws to me. Still, nice idea to have it run as a "Christmas" show.

Meh. So not 'Rent Remixed' then? They should bring that back. It was HI-LA-RI-OUS! i felt so awful for laughing my way through RENT remixed but it was truly horrendous. One thing in RENT i always found very confusing is that they live in the top floor loft but some make their entrance from a staircase coming down rather than up.

I'll go and see it, presumably if it hits Leeds or Manchester.

Booked! £19.50 for the Saturday night preview seems to be a bargain for the centre of the second row

A great musical, written with so much heart. A couple of lines of lyrics, I absolutely cringe at though.
Looking forward to it.

I used to be OBSESSED with Rent but I'm actually growing rather tired of it. Last time I saw it (the excellent amateur production at the Bridewell) I realised it was starting to look and sounded very dated and 'of its time'. As a story it's pretty weak, but has some memorable songs and is obviously loaded with the tragic story of its creator.

From £15 to £39.50 previews and varying from £19.50 to £52.50 depending on days after previews. Premium £10 higher than top price

Okay thanks, they've put £7.50 extra on the non premium tickets.
Still not badly priced for a musical.

Booked!!
Going with my friend Warren, nabbed C9 & C10 on Sat 10 December (Matinee) - Nice little excuse for a Christmas get together following the show.
I saw this back on Broadway in 2006 (meaning I actually saw the film in Times Squre pior to seeing the stage show!) (also I did see 'RENT:Remixed' which I didn't hate). Ended up in the bar on 42nd street after drinking with the cast, the 'Roger' (Timothy Howar) was then married to Ruthie Henshall and I remember him telling me about 'Peggy Sue got Married' musical

It's a show that meant a lot to me back in the day, but I doubt it'll be the same now I'm no longer in any flush of youth whatsoever. Still, it's coming to my local, so I guess I'll book myself a front row seat with all the legroom and a short walk home rather than trudge into London to gamble with the St James.

Okay, I'm just going to say it, the bit where they say "Ryan O'Gorman as Tom" is making me cringe. I know it's the character's name, but his name is also Collins and that's how he's referred to in the show and how I've always seen him credited before. It's like your mum trying to get in on your fandom and making tiny little errors and embarrassing you in front of all your nerdy friends.

In fact they've all got surnames on the St James website and I don't think I've ever seen that. Mimi is normally just that, Angel etc.
