Carrie can't really act well and definitely can't dance/move well. If she was up against another more rounded performerin an even audition would she be cast in roles? Probably not. It's her famous surname and social media following that pushes her over the line. That said its proven several times now her name doesn't sell a show (unless its a one or two nighter). Even her solo tour did poor business in quite a fee venues. So not sure they would cast her. They'd be better to go for former Six actresses. Plus yeah, she looks way too old these days to play a high schooler. |

Realistically, there isn’t a remotely suitable role in this for Carrie. She wouldn’t audition for it and knows exactly where she sits now. She doesn’t cast herself! Her stint as Fantine & the Brecht she did show she isn’t chasing the same teen cache any more. Suggesting that she’d have any involvement is just having a dig for digs sake. You don’t like her? Don’t go see her.

The movie is iconic and hilarious, but apart from some nice use of projections and great choreography, I thought this was remedial musical theatre at best and hugely disappointing considering the amazing script they had to work with.
The only thing that'd get me there again is some great casting and Alexia McIntosh and Danielle Steers as Regina or Janis would go a long way towards that happening. Vicki Manser would also make an excellent Cady.

I think the issue is that they’d probably want a few names in this to sell it, especially in somewhere like the Savoy, but I couldn’t tell you the name of 1 west end star who is in the age bracket, say 16-19, to play any of the lead roles. So the cast will most likely be 21-26, id say that they would probably struggle even with 21-23 and have to look older. |

Anyways, not really looking to argue with you as I usually like your posts. I made a list of performers I'd like to see again in this particular production as I thought they'd play the roles well. I didn't think of age, because it really doesn't worry me if the performer acts well enough to hide they fact they are older or younger than the character they are playing. XXX |
