For those that saw it in Sheffield, would you say the Dress Circle is the best place to see this from?

For those that saw it in Sheffield, would you say the Dress Circle is the best place to see this from? Hard to say because I can’t quite imagine what they’re doing at the Wyndham’s from the description given. I looked at the seat map and it doesn’t look hugely different from a traditional layout although they’ve put a centre aisle in. Still nothing like the Crucible though. The bit about stalls seats being raised doesnt make sense to me because those £25 seats on the sides have a warning about looking up to the stage. All I would say is that projections onto the floor and the back of the stage were a huge part of this.

There seems to be 4 or 5 rows removed in the stalls, so maybe they will go in the raising of the seats? It says for the Rows L and M that the view of the top of the stage is cut off and looking at photos that doesn't usually happen until Row Q.

Now the award-winning Life of Pi. Nominated in four categories at last night's UK Theatre Awards...and won all four. (Standing at the Sky's Edge also won, making it five out of five for the world-famous Crucible Theatre.) 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Just got an email from Delfont Mackintosh letting me know the performance I'd booked has been cancelled and to contact them to exchange or refund tickets. We'd booked the first Saturday preview I think, so happy to move to another day if they've got the seats free.

I also got a similar email. I hope I can get the same seats. *Prays to the god of theatre*

Is this a limited engagement or will it be extended? I have no idea but I could see this becoming a longish runner.

Theatre monkey,
Do we know why Today Tix are trying to pull a fast one with their Theatre Week “sale”?
The “deal” is offering £25 for the “Grand Circle” (so not really a deal), but on closer inspection we noticed the Balcony was missing...
...and it seems the Balcony is very much there but now they’re trying to claim it as being part of the “Grand Circle”.
Is this a rebrand by Cam Mac?
Or are they trying to fool the customers?

nash16, they are indeed knocking two holes in the wall between the Grand Circle and Balcony, one either side of the theatre. In future, audiences will enter at Grand Circle level and walk up and through these holes into what was the Balcony space. The Balcony has indeed been re-lettered to continue on from the Grand Circle. Knew you’d be in the know. Thank you for this.

Initially booking from 26 September 2021 to 9 January 2022. Evenings at 7.45pm, matinees at 3pm on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday*.
When London's glittering West End fully reopens, weekend breakers will have gone from next to no theatrical choices on a Sunday, to almost having too much choice!
ETA: *Or maybe not. On the booking page, the times are 2.30 and 7.30, except on Sunday when they are 3pm. Clear as mud. 🤔

Sunday at 3 pm is the Broadway norm. London is just aligning its performance schedule increasingly with NY.

Original layout has changed too.. Yes and the £25 row B seats that were a bargain dont exist anymore so if I rebook I'd have to pay more. As I wasn't that bothered about seeing it I have asked for a refund byt not heard anything. Guess they are a bit busy at the moment with all the Les Mis refunds.

Sent a 2nd e mail today nearly a month after the first one as had not received any acknowledgement from DMT. They replied a couple of hours later and said they have now processed the refund. So result in the end.

Such a shame that they’re not going with the original seating layout. Was it close enough to opening last time that it would have been installed and they’ve “undone” it for some reason? It really does lean heavily on projection to the floor of the stage,I can’t see it being as effective if it’s not a similar staging to how it was at the Crucible.
