Does one need to know Romeo and Juliet well to get full enjoyment from this show? Hell no. All of that is left very far behind. There’s the odd in-joke I suppose but it’s all so gloriously crackers that it really doesn’t matter. Sold out no seats left for Press night tomorrow, albeit the gallery is closed and hasn’t been open from the start of the run I think.

The gallery was open on our first Saturday Matinee visit, which I hoped meant that ticket sales were starting to pick up. Clearly I was wrong about that!
Also I think BB's description of it being "gloriously crackers" is the perfect way to describe this.

I've got a front row ticket for £12 too. Looking at the production photos there's probably a bit too much going on to take it in fully that close. But... 12 quid 🤷🏻♂️
I think the only Theatrecard offer I've had cheaper was £10 for The Pride and that was at the Opera House too. The Empire in Liverpool is nearer to me, but they don't have offers anywhere near as good as that.

^£12 for front row? If this carries on they’ll be giving tickets away on the streets of fair Manchester...maybe the woman on the Eccles omnibus (p33) might even get her hands on one 👍

^Fair enough...souchyboy chose to bring this poster into the conversation and felt the need to compare me to him/her in a very negative way...hence my question...anyway back to the show...we are booked for the London run and I have been listening to some of the songs and must admit that I had forgotten how iconic many of them are...Hope the show does well in the smoke and is not just an here today, gone tomorrow flash-in-the pan....like the lightning which doth cease to be ere one can say ‘it lightens’...

This show could be a hard one to sell as it's not easy to describe what it's all about. I hope it finds it's audience in London. It really is lots of fun.

If we could move on from ex members then please.
I’m taking some friends later this week. I usually punt out suggestions for shows on my Facebook and people say either yay or nay to coming along. This one got zero interest from the get-go and it’s only after seeing it the first time did I persuade a pal to come along for my second visit. He LOVED it. Now I’ve actually pushed it a bit with the rest of the crowd and said I think they should see it for the £20 offer. I never usually do this because it I feel (wrongly) that it puts the weight of responsibility onto me for them enjoying it. I’m confident with this one but when I try to explain what it’s about I just get “eh?” looks! 😆

I don't know a single person who having seen the show hasn't loved it, but sadly it's not putting bums on seats and that's what counts.

I don't know what the answer is, but modern day press nights perhaps isn't it. Has any kind of buzz really been generated from it?
I've been looking at the press night feed tonight and reading tweet after tweet from people all telling us what value for money the tickets they didn't pay for are. Most of the tweets seem to have ten or less likes so how many sales does this all this translate to? To be honest, I am thoroughly bored of this kind of marketing.
Word of mouth from paying customers that I know i.e. friends and family, even folks on here is far more important to me when planning what shows to invest my hard earned cash into.
I don't know what the answer is but I know the publicity from this show really isn't selling how amazing it is at the moment.
That goes for so many shows.

I don't know a single person who having seen the show hasn't loved it, but sadly it's not putting bums on seats and that's what counts. I think it has to do with the title and the marketing. The title is terrible unfortunately which is part of the issue...I haven't seen it yet and am SO EXCITED to see it and know I will love it but the title doesn't tell anyone what the show is. Plus people think Shakespeare when they do hear the title and think it's going to be high brow. This is a show that will be dependent on word of mouth and good reviews because people aren't going to fork over 75 quid right away if they don't know what they are getting.

I don't think we have had a bad review on this forum either have we? It’s been hugely positive and who expected that after the pre opening marketing? It’s interesting that despite the positive feedback some people have already taken against it and seem determined to hate it without even seeing it. I do get it though. I see descriptions of upcoming London shows here on T-Board and think “jeez that sounds crap I’d hate that” so it’s to be expected. If it bombs in London we can start a fan cult. 🙂

Maybe it needs some strategic appearances by cast members on 'daytime' TV, i.e. Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women, The One Show? Of course all of those are based in London, which at the moment makes that tricky. Perhaps they'll go onto BBC Breakfast (filmed in Manchester), just before it closes up here?

If anyone in Manchester is free lunchtime today Turns out this was a private PR event but they very graciously let me stay anyway. She was exceptional, not that anyone would have expected anything less of her.

The front 4 rows of the stalls are virtually empty on press night. They'll comp press night like they did Bat out of Hell, 'free' tickets on a site that shall not be named. As predicted, email in the inbox comping the balls out of press night.
