This is clever...that’s about a quarter of a million in ticket sales right there. “Why is Harry going there?” “Maybe we should go?” “He might be there the night we go” “aaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhharrrrrreh” etc. Nice idea but poor execution. 'Harry Styles' is plain text no @ tag no # tag. Meaning unless you're looking at the &Juliet feed, you're not going to see this, that's a hell of a lot of Harry Styles fans not in the know. They managed to tag him on Instagram but didn't bother on Twitter for some reason.

It's probably corny and tacky AF, but I'm willing to give it a try. I love how they are promoting this clip as a zitprobe, when it's clearly a music video that is meant to look like a sitzprobe.

People who are Harry Styles fans don't need him to be tagged in a post to find it, as the sheer numbers on that post show.

I don't see anything desperate about it. I mean, other than your post.

I don't see anything desperate about it. I mean, other than your post. maybe it's just me but I find these flashmob things annoying, particularly with all those inane grins they have. It just seems they're pushing it all they can up here in Manchester.

Can’t wait for this. I’ve had to tell a huge lie to get out of a conference so I can go 🤥. However you can guarantee that if it’s sh*te I’ll be letting you know, Manchester Gets It First or not.
I detect a bit of sniffiness, possibly because it’s not opening in London and some people are a bit annoyed that they won’t be the first to love it or slate it.

There's no sniffiness. terrible looks terrible wherever it opens. In That video they're not even among regular passengers. Maybe they're embarrassed to be there too.

I get why they did it, but it's a missed opportunity that they did it on such a quiet tram, avoiding rush-hour peak time for any viral exposure. Also the harmonies are quite underwhelming.

A spot of desperate publicity in Manchester this morning / Is this the cast of the show or some random people? I genuinely cannot tell.

I’m only dipping in and out of this thread but Jeez there’s so much bitching about a show that hasn’t even run one performance.
I feel it’s an easy target. Hey, let’s jump on board and slag it off.

Agree. A new musical made in Britain, having a Manchester Gets It First run then coming straight into the West End - this is TOTALLY the sort of thing we should support and assume it's gonna be decent until proven otherwise. In the immense tide of stuff that comes over from Broadway (in fact that has now become the normal route into the West End) this should totally be celebrated. Can't even remember the last new British musical that launched into the West End.... Jamie? Couple years ago??!

There is. It happens all the time when new productions open outside of London. The “sniffiness” is definitely there, for sure. But mostly because it’s not shaping up to look like a good musical yet, which has absolutely nothing to do where it debuts. This has received a very lukewarm reception on here because the premise and musical numbers sound bizarre on paper (and clearly in media too!) The reaction was completely different for Jamie (Sheffield), Bat (Manchester), The Grinning Man (Bristol) and Young Frankenstein (Newcastle). This show just isn’t doing itself justice at the moment. Shows get panned all the time if they open in London first too.

Also missed opportunity that they hardly show the title of the show they're promoting. Watching that I'd say it was RomeoWho And before I get accused of being negative again, I've actually seen another promotional video online this morning which shows it in a far better light and does make me more interested in seeing the show.

Think the tram video is fantastic...made me smile and because people are talking about it,the publicity has been secured...can’t wait to see this show.

Ooooh, lets all hold hands, sing Kumbaya and only say nice things about new shows....
You just know someone is going to say something about not wanting actors out of work soon too....

There's a load of stuff just gone up on their Instagram page from an appearance at the Trafford centre earlier today. 'Juliet' sounds rather good and I quite liked the choreography too (even if it is a bit Bat out of Hell-ish)

How about we all wait until the finished product and THEN pass judgment? Just a thought.
