I reckon it’ll be around August or September when we find out the next shows for the Adelphi and Savoy. [br Mary Poppins is going to the Adelphi as I said weeks ago. Well this is awkward.

So The Savoy is still the main mystery. it's going to be a limited run of a musical pre-tour. Any hints on what show? new/classic/american?

I wonder if the Novello could be available and Mamma Mia! moves again. Or ends its run. Forever. And ever.

9 to 5 would make sense for the Savoy pre-tour

Blimey. Very little to get excited about, IMO.

I wonder if Anastasia is for the Savoy and Dear Even Hansen Noel Coward and I was thinking I know mormon isn't going anywhere anytime soon but what about Mean Girls for the Prince of Wales? ?

The problem with the Prince of Wales is that the stage is very small and also they’res no back wall to cross to either side of the stage, the actors have to go below! I can see Anastasia at Dury Lane if Frozen gets cancelled Mean Girls definitely suits the Savoy though!

I’m pretty sure Rachel Tucker teased that she had news coming later this month, so could be related? That would be lovely, though I also wonder whether she's Come From Away bound?

Highly doubt Book of Mormon will be leaving anytime soon considering how consistently healthy their sales have been.

She was posting on Twitter about learning lines - doubt she'd be doing that already if it is CFA given it doesn't open for ages!

I just think it’s a bit sad that we are having so many Broadway productions coming over next year. We were once the leader (in the 80’s) and it’s time the UK claimed that title again. We need to make and support NEW British musicals from start to finish! Heathers, Dreamgirls and 42nd Street sadly don’t count!

Broadway have done so much to advance the art form in the past 30 years whereas the West End have barely lifted a finger in comparison. Everybody's Talking About Jamie is seemingly the best we can do these days. Good, but hardly innovative at this point.

Anastasia would die a quick death at Drury Lane, it needs a theatre with a capacity similar to the Piccadilly or Shaftesbury Will never happen now. Broadway have done so much to advance the art form in the past 30 years whereas the West End have barely lifted a finger in comparison. Everybody's Talking About Jamie is seemingly the best we can do these days. Good, but hardly innovative at this point. The only homegrown musical in the last 6-7 years that is still running is Matilda, everything else has either flopped or ran 2-3 years tops.

And is three months nearer than the planned start for Waitress, so it's likelier she's learning lines for CFA than Waitress, no?

This thread should be renamed ‘guesses’ or ‘stab in the dark’ or ‘chuck a load of mud at the wall and if any sticks call it insider knowledge’. I know that there isn’t much going on at the moment but...honestly!

Couldn't agree more. We are in the absolute doldrums.

As ALW has said many times, there are too many factors conspiring against new musical writing in the UK - well, developing and getting it put in London and being able to survive market forces and economics.

Or maybe he just shouldn't write such terrible shows such as Stephen Ward and then blame other things

I can see what u mean by this I don’t see frozen being cancelled though as it will be a massive cash cow for the tourists. Someone else said Anastasia would suit the safsbury (keep spelling it wrong sorry) what about the prince edward for anastasia i see aladdin gong by new year snd it will do very well on tour, then anastasia will move in. but the safsbury is probably a safe choice for anastasia mean girls for the savoy will happen but probably not till end of next year though.

He is talking about less established writers than himself.
