Does anyone know what's going on with the front row at the Gillian Lynne? Thought it'd be quite good to go front row, which is currently row B, but it says they 'might' add an extra row? This was the case with Crazy For You too. I think it's to ensure that the view from the front row is adequate which can depend on staging. It's why I haven't yet booked Standing... The front row for the Time Traveller's Wife at the Apollo Theatre was on sale and then withdrawn - my booking was moved back a row. Mrs Doubtfire front row was reduced in price after a lot of seats had already been sold due to the very high stage restricted view there. Wizard Of Oz front row at the Palladium was added late at much reduced prices. Better to wait than have complaints or requests for moves. |

Do you think they'll announce a day seat policy for this eventually? I've been deciding whether to hold off on my purchase in hope of day seats, or to just take the plunge on a lower priced seat.

I just clicked into a few random dates early in the run (including the first night) and this seems to have a LOT of availability across all of them.

I remember how tough it was getting tix for the National. I got returns in the end. I have also recommended to lots of people, but perhaps the general public (rather than regular theatre goers) still don't recognise the name/title? Maybe people are waiting for offers? |

I can't see this being a hard ticket to get looking at current sales - (sadly) like Crazy for You I think lack of international tourist recognition and lack of "tv famous" casting etc means a decent and very easy daily lottery/rush offer will emerge. I hope I am wrong though as shows need to do well to keep theatre alive.
It's a shame they do appear to be repeating Crazy for You's mistake of pricing it too high in the first place. At the very least discount the first two weeks heavily and fill the theatre and build a buzz?

Standard NT pricing with lots of the circle at £20.
It was always going to be a tough sell in town with no stars and not based on a book or film - they'll do well to push through 6 months I think (with a lot of discounting) and then this'll quietly fade away I figure

Given how poorly it's selling, I was amazed to walk past the theatre on Saturday and see that almost a month after Crazy For You closed, all their signage was still up - absolutely no hint of a new show except for a tiny board just inside the theatre, next to a sign saying that the box office is open 12-6 - and even then it was 5pm and closed!

The first preview has been cancelled. I’ve just received this email:
“Due to the large scale and technical demands of Standing at the Sky's Edge, the producers have regrettably taken the decision to cancel the first preview performance on Thursday 8 February at 7:30pm.
We know how much you were looking forward to seeing the show, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience it may cause. The next available performance following your previous booking is Friday 9
February at 7:30pm.
To request your exchange to an alternative performance or a refund, please click on the form below no later than the Wednesday 7 February.”

Oh well, guess I'll take the refund and rebook for a later performance with one of the many incoming deals.

I'm sure I saw a post elsewhere on line that showed them putting the set up at the beginning of this week. Considering it's not a 'new' production, you would think it would pretty much just sit in place and be ready to open on time. |
