Exciting news although I hope they've learned lessons from Christmas Carol, which i didn't think worked well at all.

I liked the Peter Pan. I do hope they drop the 'they'e crap cos it's just a regional polytechnic' aspect though - it comes across as rather snooty.

Think we will be finding Dawnstar in Manchester studios for a fair while in the not to distant future. I wish. Given the number of applications they had for the previous filmings the odds of getting tickets for this have got to be very low, and that's if they have a ballot rather than an invited audience. I've been saying for years that I'd like them to do a sitcom series with the Cornley characters & it sounds like that's what this will be. I'm glad far more important people than me have had the same idea!

doesn't sound like they're dropping that aspect Hopefully the Poly bit has gone at least, though maybe that's because they're a bit too old now to pass for students.

I’m delighted that Nancy’s back for this (also in Groan Ups).

I think there's a fundamental issue with farce on TV or film - a large part of the joy of broad comedy on stage is the 'choreography' of it, when things are happening all over the stage, and the element of surprise.
When cameras are involved there director is literally directing where you are looking - so if the scene cuts to a door, someone is going to come through it, if the scene cuts to a skylight, someone is going to fall through it. There also isn't the sheer joy of knowing that one false move by an actor and the whole edifice could come crashing down - there's a real sense of danger (metaphorical and literal) in watching some of the Mischief Theatre stuff (or Noises Off, or One Man Two Guvnors) on stage and marvelling at the skill of the actors. A lot of that danger is removed when you know that they can always do another take and so the finished product is "the best of best versions".
So I'm a bit doubtful about this, but I really hope it works for them. Maybe given the format there will be some through threads with the characters that takes it away from straightforward farce.
