After spending half the morning on the phone to Nespresso in an effort to get my coffee to land in my cup instead of in the drip tray that languishes within the bowels of my machine, they are coming to take it away for fixing on Wednesday. And lending me one in the meantime. How considerate. Cannot fault the service.
However, a warning to anyone in my path tomorrow and Tuesday, when I shall have to make do with (it even hurts to type the word...) instant....😡🤮
DO.
NOT.🔪
MESS.😱

For his sake, I hope Mr Tibs is away at a conference this week.
I have to admit I know next to nothing about Nespresso, but isn't it just instant coffee in liquid form, like Camp coffee, but in an overpriced capsule?

I'm happy with instant. I don't know what any of these fancy names mean.

I think you will find that it is the very FINEST ground coffee that 39p can buy. Rich with the lifeforce of the bean and with a distinctive crema that only a true connoisseur can appreciate. “Camp” may describe the hot drink selection round at yours but me and tibs have higher aspirations 😑. I thank you.

Camp coffee has one use, and one use only: it is better than anything else for putting coffee flavour into a coffee cake.

You've changed you, BurlyBeaR. "Lifeforce of the bean" indeed. 🙂 For over 40 years, rain or shine, summer or winter, at 6.30 every morning, before he left for work, pater would boil a pan of milk. He'd pour most of it over his Weetabix, and with the rest he'd make himself a cup of Camp. ☕

Does anyone else feel horribly guilty chucking another tassimo/nespresso/insertbrandnamehere empty pod in the bin? I only bought my machine on the cheap in January but decent coffee every morning is a real treat. I used to love Gold Blend but they changed it and now it’s undrinkable.

I can't imagine ever using one of these machines (partly due to the waste you mention) but thank you for the info re Gold Blend: I too used to love this - and some own-brand versions - and couldn't work out why my recent purchase was so disgusting and disappointing. I've now switched to the Alta Rica version which isn't the same or so much to my taste but is at least drinkable when I do have the occasional coffee at home rather than my normal tea.

They have a shop in St Pancras now and it's very pretty with all the colours set out (reminded me of John Lewis displaying Christmas baubles by colour), but it does seem very disposable for modern sensibilities. Don't start me on "silver tea", as a friend called their barely tinged hot water and milk.

Nespresso recycle your pods for free. You just send off for a recycling bag, fill it, and either drop it off at a collection point or order a collection. I’m sure you could put other brands aluminium pods in the bag as well as Nespresso. I doubt if anyone’s checking!

I’ve got 200 free ‘Cafepod’ capsules coming today in my supermarket shop. Fifty quids worth, free in return for a review. I’ve been sent several before, usually samples or a pack of ten and they’re always rubbish and I’ve said so in the reviews. I wonder if they’re trying to batter me into submission or something.

Are those the dodgy ones that come in a sort of sliding card box, really clunky plastic capsules? If so, please center the next review around to the magical concept of recyclable pods.

Oh Camp coffee made with milk, that is something else. Nothing to do with coffee mind, but something else! A taste of my childhood. It could also give rise to my new gay stage name. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Miss Camp Frappe". "Camp Frappe IS Hedda Gabler" or "The Good Woman of Setzuan" starring Camp Frappe.

There’s a drag act called Titti La Camp. A drag act? A drag act? How very dare you. Miss Camp Frappe is a serious actress and not to be confused with that low rent end of the business. Tisk, Bears today, no manners. And Tibidabo, I came before those "ladies". You could say they were camp followers. (I'll get me coat now)

I loved drinking Camp coffee as a child growing up in the 50s. It tasted impossibly exotic to me and I was much taken by the picture on the bottle. I then recall visiting my grandmother and thinking she was the height of sophistication for having this newfangled powdered coffee made by Maxwell House. For some reason she never bought Nescafé and it was years before I realised there was such a thing as a coffee bean.

I had an Americano from the espresso bar in Whole Foods in Kensington High Street on Saturday (I know, I know. Don't judge.) It was so strong I think you could probably use it to power a washing machine.

It was so strong I think you could probably use it to power a washing machine. This Americano still misses Barker's (and their caf upstairs) on that site, but I don't remember their coffee. I do remember when the best cup of coffee in London was to be had at the Copenhagen Patisserie on Haverstock Hill.
