You will lose up to a third or more of the stage, and the legroom is nil. Also, people will lean forward into your view. It's cheap for a reason - a way to be in the theatre and hear the show more than anything. I'm really just going to hear JOJ so I can live with that. There is definitely something dodgy going on with the availability though. I've seen loads of slip seats available on different days, then they ALL disappear, then come back if I search again later. One of the dates is Sept 30th, does anyone else see them?

I bought one last night for November but the booking wouldn't complete - it said payment was taken and the seat secured but I have to call DMT if I don't get a confirmation email (I haven't). Really rubbish.

Any rumours of a cinema screening for this? I would love to see it, but begrudge paying in access of £150 for a decent seat. Don’t get me wrong, I have paid this for other shows (such as the incoming SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE), but find it a bit silly for LES MIS, when I have seen it numerous times and it has been running for 30+ years. Even the “new production” going into the Sondheim have these prices. Another version of the show I would have liked to see, as I have not seen it out on tour, but again, utterly ridiculous pricing.

Are there any reviews from last night from The Stage, The Guardian etc? I can’t seem to find any.

Just spotted this on Delfont Mackintosh Theatres FB page Looking for Les Misérables: The Staged Concert tickets? From tomorrow, there will be 12 standing tickets available for £15 from the Gielgud Theatre box office from 10AM. They’ll be limited to 2 per person and available for that days performances. See you there!👋 They've added the leftover standing tickets to the website for tonight's performance – £17.50 though

I'm OK with the view but is the legroom truly awful? Yes. There isn't any. uh oh. I'm in the upper circle for my first visit anyway so might have to go check it out and work out a plan!

O I’ve just checked slip seat availability for 30th September and there are 2 each side of the upper circle so if want them I suggest you get in quick 😀

uh oh. I'm in the upper circle for my first visit anyway so might have to go check it out and work out a plan! I sat in the Upper Circle when I went to go see Company, and had no issue with regards to leg room. I'm over 6 foot, and yes it was a little cramped, like all older theatres are, but I didn't come away thinking that it was awful! Though we were centre row, just my thoughts x

We are talking about the slips, at the sides of the circle. The main block is cramped but tolerable in the front section at least. Thats what I get for not reading through before replying haha!

How are Javert's suicide and the barricade scenes staged? Barricades {Spoiler - click to view} The barricade is the set (if you have seen the pictures.) Where all the ensemble sit for like most of the show and come on stage when they have a line. Except on the barricades they are all standing. The people who have lines literally just stand in front of microphones and sing them. Then they all stand there as music plays and lights flash for the "dying scene".
Javert suicide {Spoiler - click to view} Just stands singing at the front and then leaves down the stairs.

Having looked at the curtain call pictures from the gala night, the wigging seems to be rather inconsistent. It looks like Michael Ball, Matt Lucas and Katy Secombe are wigged as usual for their characters but Alfie Boe and Carrie Hope Fletcher don't appear to be. Does that mean Valjean's usually visible ageing & Fantine having her hair cut off aren't done in this production? I can't say that Bradley Jaden's bun or or Shan Ako's multiple braids are very suitable for something set in the 19th century either, but as their characters tend not to be wigged I can sort of understand that they're not.

CHF has an extra piece of hair attached to her real hair and then she stays with her real one when she cuts it. You can watch her last video on Youtube if you want more details.

Managed to bag myself an upper circle slip seat for the 2nd November matinee, which JOJ is doing fortunately. My bank holiday weekend is unlikely to get better frankly (unless someone decides to swap me a £200 stalls seat that was also available).

Managed to bag a ticket middle of Row C in the Dress Circle for Monday for less than £100. Couldn’t resist by that point. Haven’t seen Les Mis in ages and actually quite excited, especially looking forward to hearing the orchestrations and to see Rob Houchen again.
I personally thought Alfie Boe did a pretty good job at the 25th anniversary concert when I watched the blu ray. Why is the response to his performance this time so chilly? Still, I’m getting to see JOJ but just curious

Still, I’m getting to see JOJ but just curious My impression based solely off the cinema and DVD experience was just that he doesn't really act very much. I don't doubt that he can sing the songs, but what I'm imagining people are getting off JOJ that Boe isn't doing is emotion and feeling. Not seen Boe do Les Mis live though (and certainly not paying triple figures for the privilege of doing so) so maybe I'm wrong.

I read that Mr. Boe is still getting a standing ovation after Bring Him Home. It may sound odd but it makes me feel a little sad somehow. Has it become an obligation?

I didn’t think there’d need to be much acting though if it’s a concert but I get it. I think his Bring Him Home is beautiful personally but if everyone else is acting and the main character isn’t, it can be a big blow. Wish Ramin and Celinde was doing this too

I saw Boe on Broadway after also enjoying his performance in the 25th. Then again, I may be biased/grandfathered in since I'd been a bit of a fan since seeing him in La Bohème (the Baz Luhrmann version) eons earlier. Or maybe I've just seen worse Valjeans...
