It's now August. They obviously are having HUGE casting issues with this. Not necessarily. You would expect them to cast more celebs with it being the Palladium, but they've already got more "stars" than most of Qdos' other pantos, so if they are happy with current ticket sales this could well be it for star casting.

Don't forget that there may be snap elections in both the UK and Germany in the autumn, so their preferred choices may be unavailable... What, are you hoping we'll chuck Angela Merkel out and you can cast her as the Fairy Godmother? You can have her...

Germany appears not to be able have an early election. Can only be between 46-48 months after the previous unless a motion of no confidence Is passed and a successor can get a majority in the Bundestag. Not sure Brexit as whole has affected the casting to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if the casting done and they just waiting to announce it.

I'm almost certain this isn't the star casting complete. I get your point but as this is the Palladium panto in the first time for 30 uyears and the prices they're charging, Cinderella and the Ugly Sisters are bound to be names. If they cast Nigel Havers as a role that is not even usually in the panto (Lord Chanberlain) and sounds like a small role, they must cast someone famous in the title role!

In one recent production the Ugly Sisters were called Amanda and Aleesha!

I think the imminent casting of a male, black, one-legged, hindu, whale will satisfy most board members.
Is Sheridan free?

I think Baz will announce the ugly sisters in weekly instalments, one letter each week.
Start with a vowel, please, Carol.

Seems quite likely. Must be fairly big names for the step sisters to provide a further ticket boost through.

She's also a dancer - possibly working in that capacity, with Andrew Wright (choreographer)? I doubt he'd be 'getting creative in the studio' with the actress playing Cinders, or openly tweeting her before an official announcement had been made, for that matter.

I doubt she'd be Cinderella. I agree with Johart though about her helping with the choreography and being dance captain. If she is Cinders then they'll need big big names for the sisters

Lucy is most likely the Associate Choreographer. She's an established performer. I don't think 'helping with the choreography' is her job title!!

I'd love to see June Sarpong as Cinders. She deserves a comeback.

I doubt they'd cast someone with no stage experience and only 6 years younger than her fairy godmother... I do love June though. Bring back Popworld on Saturday mornings say I!

I think we should hear final casting in September...hopefully!! Surely it'll be then because it'll be rehearsals soon. I can see why they're not announcing it now though because all families are away

They won't be rehearsing until late November, so they've got a bit of time yet, but I do hope we hear soon

Usually pantomimes only do a month or even less of rehearsals as they are not as demanding in terms of acting/singing/dancing generally compared to big musicals. It wont start until late October/early November unless they have a need to sell tickets urgently bur then if Cinderella and the Sisters are nobodies, it isn't going to help either way haha.

I'm pretty sure Cinderella and Sisters will be very big names!! If they cast Nigel Havers in what looks like a small role, then I'm sure the main characters will be names.

Actually, it's more like 2 weeks for some of the Qdos pantos like Birmingham's! I think scripts are worked on throughout the whole year so by the time rehearsals start nothing really needs changing that much. And they're usually quite intense, but I imagine for the Palladium it could possibly be a bit longer seeing as standards and expectations are higher.

Or less indeed. I did a Qdos panto in 2014, one week of rehearsals in London (Mon to Sat), traveling halfway up country to venue on Sunday, rehearsals/tech Monday to Thursday, opened Thursday evening. Just 9 1/2 days of rehearsals including tech.

Just 9 1/2 days of rehearsals including tech. Yes, that is perfectly usual for panto. Usually the same script/show/stars moved around the country. For example Cinderella with Torvill and Dean which played the Opera House in Manchester last year is being done again in Bristol this year. No doubt the Palladium will be no different.
