This is my first time going to west end live and I am planning on seeing a matinee, is it easy to get out of the place and also can you come in and out for lunch without queuing for a lifetime?

^As the time to leave gets near start to slowly work your way out of the crowd.Last year I was near the front for the first two hours, then on a break between performances,I started to drift to the exit to the right of the main stage.

Seems I shall be going to the ball after all as I have an invite to the VIP area on Sunday. Line up is not as good as Saturday as expected but there is still some great stuff there. Looking forward to seeing On Your Feet and Ballet Boyz and especially Falsettos now I've seen the cast. Have a lovely time! What does the VIP area offer, out of interest? Not sure for this year and they didn't have one last year. Previously it was sponsored by Mastercard and you got drinks and snacks plus its seated. It does say light refreshments provided this year but no mention of a sponsor. Main thing for me that's its seated.

Last year on the Saturday the queues were absolutely horrendous first thing in the morning.Depends on the weather but I am guessing that arriving at 10.40am would take you 60-90 mins to get in minimum. It’s all ifs/buts to be honest. Some websites say that up to half a million visit over the two days although obviously some people come and go.Also apparently last year it was much, much quieter for the last 3 hours on the Sunday. The big hitters seem to appear on the Saturday and tail off towards matinee time. Can’t do the Saturday this year as my daughter is on stage in an am-dram but Sunday is a possiblity.Just loved the MT fan vibe last year....really special imo.

Usually I am standing for several hours before they let us in. Think this year I may have to resort to sitting on the pavement. The big question is - Will I be able to get up again?

Walking through Trafalgar Square this afternoon. Had a chance to watch the tech rehearsals. Rachel Tucker sounded fantastic in the Come From Away bit. Really looking forward to WEL now. Got the perfect weather for it.

I will be out and about in Trafalgar Square tomorrow till about 2:30 pm.
If anyone sees me, feel free to say hello.
Some of you I have met but for those of you who haven't met me, I'm pretty approachable and a friendly guy.
I I don't see anyone, whatever it is that you do there, have fun, enjoy the show and remain safe.
Oh, and don't forget a hat and sunscreen.

I attend this event every year, usually Saturday, sometimes all weekend, but cannot get there at all this year. Big ask: is any kind, wonderful, fellow theatre fan out there able to pick me up and send me a copy of the free brochure that is always available? I collect them. If yes and there is something I can send as a swap, such as flyers, please ask.

There is no major sponsor this year, it used to be Mastercard, and that's why we got those glossy brochures. I passed by yesterday evening when the sound checks were being done and I saw a steward giving out a leaflet with the schedules. So have a feeling that's it. As I say hope I'm wrong as the brochure was lovely.

On the WEL site it shows some kind of brochure/magazine along with tote bags,T’s etc with the question ‘WHICH MERCH WILL YOU BUY’? which suggests that they may charge this year.Sure we will find out later today.Last year’s brochure was a lovely keep-sake.

The queues for the main area are crazy. Gave up and am currently in the area by Canada House and watching it on a big screen. I’m getting here super early tomorrow to try for the main area.

Thanks for the various info and replies about the brochure. I knew this would happen eventually, well, I had a good run of several years of free brochures. But I think someone at WEL or SOLT could have told me when I emailed them.😠 Thanks to Anthony40 for considering my request when we both thought it was free. I would not expect anyone to fork out £5 on this. I will have to be content with watching YouTube videos of WEL2019! ☹️

It needs to be moved or even ticketed.
Still make it open for all by having a big screen in Leicester Square or something showing it live as well.
I last went 3 years ago and it was madness, by the sounds of it both last year and now this year, it's got twice as bad.
