A David mamet play about this topic doesn't sound like it will be a great idea

Still, at least it's not by David Hare...

Shall we all go on the same night and hold a guerilla post-show talk-back?

On the one hand, I love David Mamet, and with Malkovich that would be a must see (this must be a contender to be NT Live'd surely?) But the subject matter is one I'm not sure I really want to sit through.

I am worried that Oleana is an indicator as to how Mamet will approach this subject...

It's been a while since Mamet wrote anything even half as good as Oleanna. I have to say I thought this play was called Bitter Harvest, but apparently not.

David Mamet is washed-up and I suspect if this was any good it would be opening on Broadway.

After CHINA DOLL, Mamet won't be premiering anything on Broadway ever again. Dire beyond words.

HOLLYWOOD IS A HELL HOLE.
Everything in Hollywood is for sale except the awards, which are for rent.
Bitter Wheat is a play about a depraved Hollywood mogul.
It rips the pashmina off the suppurating wound which is show business, and leaves us better human beings, and fitter to once more confront the horror of life.
Our hero, Barney Fein, is a bloated monster – a studio head, who like his predecessor, the minotaur, devours the young he has lured into his cave.
His fall from power to shame is a mythic journey which has been compared to The Odyssey by people who claim to have read that book.
A new play starring John Malkovich in his return to the stage after 33 years, written and directed by David Mamet in a good mood.
From June 7th

This was kept rather quiet. Did anyone know about this?

Well I don't normally spend a lot on West End, but this is very special. While I appreciate Mamet is a divisive figure these days, when he's on form he is one of the very best, and of course seeing Malkovich onstage too! So I bought a ticket in the 4th row, £10 off is a good deal for a stalls ticket.

This was kept rather quiet. Did anyone know about this? I think Malkovich mentioned it when he was over to promote Poirot in December

As I said previously, I would like to see Malkovich on stage, but Mamet tackling the wesenstein stuff has the potential to be pretty messy....

This looks very good but the thing that *really* sells it to me is the fact that Doon Mackichan is in it. Her Cathy in Two Doors Down is a work of comedic genius.

As I said on Twitter, David Mamet is great writer, for men. He struggles with women (we are very complex after all) and his strongest plays look at the relationships between men (Glengarry Glen Ross, American Buffalo) perhaps Mamet will prove me wrong but I suspect Malkovich's character will be unashamedly sleazy, Doon Mackihan's character will be a hard woman who doesn't believe the other women because Fein is her boss and Ioanna Kimbook will play the young victim.
I hope Mamet does something interesting with this but as Ahmed says in the age of great documentary makers do we need to hear a fictionalised account, from a man, about the brutality of other men?

Not encouraging. Mamet will be ranting about snowflakes soon
Also the words 'badly behaved'and 'comedy very much sounds like they'll be treating the whole wesentein thing as a joke

The first episode where Cathy and her husband Colin relive their first wedding dance in their neighbour's living room was absolutely hilarious. She makes Beverly from Abigail's Party look like a Samaritan!

Booked row A stalls through Nimax during the first week of its run- thought £57.50 was very reasonable (didn't fancy paying over £100 for premium)
