Couldn’t see an already created thread. Am off to NYC at the end of February and fancied seeing a show. Anybody have any recommendations and any way of getting offers? I understand todaytix works out there. Does my UK app automatically switch or is there a US app?

Apologies, I just saw the international section. That will teach me to look better in future.

Hello! welcome! it's ok the mods can move it to the right section!
But yes, Todaytix will know you're in NY and I think it just prompts you when you open it 'do you want NYC' but you can change the settings to browse while still in the UK.
Other good sites for discounts are Playbill (look for their discounts tab) and Broadway Box. Also worth checking out individual shows that you want to see for their Rush and Lottery policies (a lot of them have gone digital in recent years)
ALSO don't forget off Broadway listings, there are fantastic shows there, and often a fair bit cheaper than Broadway.
Also we have a few NY residents here and a lot of frequent visitors, so if you want recommendations i'm sure someone can help.

For discounts in advance also check theatremania.com. It will have most everything on Broadway Box plus some additional options. And this TKTS link will show you what has been up for discounts there the past six days. www.entertainment-link.com/tkts.asp Finally, while StubHub is often thought of as the spot to go when shows are sold out, if you keep an eye on prices there you often can find great discounts close to the day or time of a desired show.

www.broadwayforbrokepeople.com/ is the best site which lists all the rush policies for all the different shows. I must say though I found the online lotteries a real struggle, and one of the ones I did win, struggled to pay with a UK card online.

Thanks all, these tips are really helpful. Think I’ll try and read some reviews And choose one or two shows then see what offers are available. Thanks again

As I should have suspected, it turns out many of our (British) board members know more about buying theater tickets in New York than this New Yorker does. A pretty comprehensive listing of Broadway and off-Broadway shows is the one on the talkinbroadway chat board website www.talkinbroadway.com/boards/New York's top conservatory, The Juilliard School, which is on the Lincoln Center campus, has a fairly full performance calendar of theater, dance and (mostly) music performances, most of which are inexpensive or free www.juilliard.edu/stage-beyond/performance/calendar and the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU usually gives a lot of performances, too (though I'm not seeing the winter/spring schedule on their website yet) tisch.nyu.edu/dramaNot sure what your interests are, justinj, but in case you like opera, the Metropolitan Opera will be in season www.metopera.org/with same-day Rush tickets available for every performance through their web page www.metopera.org/season/tickets/rush-page/If you like ballet, the New York City Ballet will be performing while you're here www.nycballet.com/Season-Tickets/Calendar.aspx#family%20events=1&performances=1&special%20events=1&talks%2Fdemos=1&sunday=1&monday=1&tuesday=1&wednesday=1&thursday=1&friday=1&saturday=1&s=1/27/2019&e=2/24/2019If you like guided tours of performing arts venues, Lincoln Center offers one www.lincolncenter.org/visit/toursas do Radio City Music Hall www.msg.com/venue-tours/radio-city-music-halland Carnegie Hall www.carnegiehall.org/Visit/TourDon't Tell Mama, a theater district restaurant and cabaret, has as one of its regular features Seth Rudetsky's Broadway Chatterbox, in which Rudetsky, a Broadway musical polymath sometimes called "The Mayor of Broadway" - you can Youtube him to see if he's your type of thing - interviews a performer for an hour or so donttellmamanyc.com/cabaret

MCC theatre do front row tickets for $30
I like Goldstar.com as well - walks, tours, and some shows on discount. I got a ticket for the Golden Girls Live (Drag)Musical next week for $26 including fee.
