I was last in NY 10 years ago. On the Monday evening we went to Splash. The place was full of chorus boys, video screens played excerpts from the Tony's and everyone sang along. It was intense and brilliant.
Splash is now closed. Does anyone know any of similar bars /nights - please and ta
Also, any other tips are all greatly appreciated
:-)

You need to go to Marie’s Crisis! I’m travelling so difficult to do a link but I will do so later. Singalong piano bar in the Village, very stagey and huge fun. More low key but nice, with a pianist and singing bar staff, also a theatre crowd and a fantastic happy hour is Don’t Tell Mama on W46th. Have fun!

I was so shocked by it all I had to go back the next night to prove how shocked I was.

The "Crisis" part of Marie's Crisis, BTW, is apparently a reference to the pamphlet series "The American Crisis" (often shortened to "The Crisis") by Thomas Paine, who died in an earlier building on the site where the bar now stands.
When I went there - this was years ago - the evening culminated with "I feel pretty," sung in falsetto by an elderly drag queen, I assume now long gone; my friends and I were told that the song had more or less been ceded to her, and God help anybody else who tried to sing it.

Best to get a suite for the crowd that will no doubt want to come and sing.
