Ben has been holding the "Favourite Tommy" crown for 8 years (for me). I love his take on the role. He never plays it exactly he same too which is great when you're a repeat visitor. Always something new to discover.

Always something new to discover. I have seen his Tommy a couple of times before but he delivered lines last night in a way that made me go - that makes so much more sense now. He's a lot more animated than Jon and uses his body better I think (I don't mean to Jon-bash by the way, he's brilliant also, just in different ways). And I've seen it a fair few times now myself too!

Lewis, Sam and Stephen were supposed to go to Hong Kong with Jersey Boys for a few weeks in April but it was cancelled. Wow. Why?

Saw this last night, energy and audience were fantastic and pretty much sold out bar three or four premium seats in the stalls. Ben Wheeler on as Tommy and he was electric. Not as good a voice as Jon but Ben blows him out the water on the acting front I think. The other three leads are outstanding too... show felt in the best shape it has done for a while - even if Edd had a complete mindblank on the bridge and Ben dropped the queen of hearts (I think?) early on! But like absolute pros both recovered to deliver impeccable performances. Ben's Tommy is great and I enjoy seeing him when he's on. He had an off night last time I saw him - rushing his lines throughout and he started singing Silhouettes far too early which was really disappointing (and really noticeable as he had to completely change the melody until the music caught up with him) . Glad to hear that he's back on top form now.

Looks like Matt Thorpe is heading straight from Jersey into the American Idiot tour. Hope he's playing Johnny, would be great to have him in a lead part full time as loved seeing him as Frankie when he was on.

Hello, will be making another Jersey Boys trip tomorrow, this may sound daft but where in the Piccadilly is the cast board as on my previous visits I've never spotted it and they don't seem to do understudy announcements - last time I went Mark Isherwood was on as Tommy DeVito - the first time I have ever seen a second cover in anything - he was very good even if I think he may have walked into the pole by the stairs!

Directly opposite the box office, at the wall between the two centermost doors.

The tour closes in Edinburgh on Saturday. It's second visit to the venue & the end of an over 2 year tour.

Having recently seen the London production I'm intrigued to know, how much of the show is actually sung live as from here I was sat it defiantly wasn't 100%?

It is supposed to be live 100% so am curious. I once had a Frankie Valli who clearly had back up from back stage but I recognized the voice of the understudy in there. But can imagine that gives someone the idea it is not live.

It's live as in there's no taped recording but for some songs there's off stage or on stage backing singers Also remember the microphones on stands are a prop and aren't turned on. They use the same hairline microphones as other shows

It's always sung live, but Frankie is semi-secretly backed up by at least one male ensemble member (usually Joey and/or Barry Belson) and the women.

I was told the reason why Frankie is "backed up" is to recreate the effect on the real recordings where Frankie was actually recorded a few times and then mixed together

Question for those who have seen tour previously. I thought they came on at the end with the red jackets again. I was positive they did last time was in Edinburgh, but this time they didn't use the red coats. Am I making this up.

Saw it twice in Liverpool and they didn't come out in red coats at the end.

Just watched the Jersey Boys performance in the Covent Garden stage for the Oliviers... Not a huge fan of the new cast. It makes you realise how strong Michael Watson is vocally for this role.

I will admit the video doesn't do them justice. They were a lot better live in the plaza. My view never judge a cast by a video/audio. Go and see them at the show then past judgement.

Matt Corner is very good live as Frankie - the video of him at the Piazza doesn't do him justice. I really like the new cast, but the theatre was the quietest (in terms of numbers in the audience, and the volume) I've ever known it for a Jersey Boys show, which I think may have affected my enjoyment of the show.

I imagine JB is fine at the moment but I think if the Broadway production closes within the next year or so, the West End production might follow suit not long after or possibly move to another theatre like the Phoenix if ATG wants a new show for the Piccadilly.

I heard that too but didn't see any actual evidence of it, just a load of tweets from people who weren't at the show

i saw a tweet from someone who was but I have no idea how to post an image on here. It also appears to have kicked off in the front row of Motown too yesterday according to the actor that plays Berry Gordy

I saw this last weekend for the first time since it moved theatres (I was spoiled with Tim as Frankie on the tour and didn't want to go and see anyone else!!), the new cast convinced me to go. I sat on the front row and it was absolutely brilliant - the stage is much lower than at the Prince Edward, and without an orchestra pit in the way the view was excellent. I could even read the headline on Tommy's newspaper!
I like the new cast, I thought Simon was excellent as Tommy and he did some small bits differently to others which I liked. I was pleased Mark was on as Bob Crewe as he was one of the ones I'd gone to see, and the cast list hadn't been updated from the Friday night so still showed him as being off. I saw Dayle as Frankie and thought he was also very good - in fact I've never seen a Frankie I haven't liked, and I also thought Declan made a good Bob. I hope to see this cast again.

Anyone heard anything about this moving? I've heard it's on its way out of the Picadilly for either Pheonix or Playhouse in order to get it to its 10 years.

I can't see it going to the Phoenix as I think ATG want a new show for there but I think the Playhouse would be good for it. The set isn't huge is it? It would probably do good business there. I can see ATG wanting the Picaddily for a new show as its a good theatre.

They would have to seriously downsize to move to the Playhouse, the Phoenix while not huge would probably be a better option for the show.
