Many theatres have used Spektrix as their ticketing system for some time now (e.g. Hampstead, Royal Court, Bridge, Soho...) and I see today that the Barbican has now signed up to use them.
I find it incredibly frustrating because Spektrix just doesn't work on a Mac in Safari unless you relax the default security settings. Spektrix requires third-party cookies to be enabled, and Safari by default blocks them, as they are most commonly used by ad-serving companies such as Google and Criteo to "follow" you about the web (they're the reason that you'll look for a set of ladders on Amazon and for days all your ads on every website feature ladders).
Many modern browsers such as Safari, Edge and Mozilla block third-party cookies by default. Chrome (from Google) doesn't. (I wonder why that might be?)
So if I click on the "Book Tickets" link on the above theatres, I get a Spektrix error message telling me to unblock third-party cookies. So I have two choices - temporarily unblocking third-party cookies (which is a pain, and if I have other tabs open may allow third-party cookies to be set on them), or by opening another browser where I allow third party cookies and which I use only for theatre booking.
I've written to Spektrix about this and their response was just to send the canned email telling me how to allow third-party cookies across the board on Safari - which I don't want to do.
I can't be the only person with this issue - and I'm sure no-one here can fix it, but has anyone found any workarounds that don't involve opening your browser up to ad-trackers and crawlers?
