I enjoyed it when I saw it on Broadway but I would say 3/5 is about right.

I agree. The reviews here have so far been VERY kind to the cast which is not good and nowhere near their Broadway predecessors.

Wow wow WOW.
I saw this last night and absolutely loved it. Yes, it's all about the spectacle. Yes, the story is thin. But I couldn't fault the performances and the whole thing blew me away.
It's a 5 from me!

We must remember the show did win 10 Tony awards.
I enjoyed it very much. I saw it on Broadway two years ago and I enjoyed it more in London due to the fact I had better seats so I felt more connected to the story.
I think the more emotional scenes could work better with original songs as opposed to shoehorning pop songs in that don’t move any story forward. It just doesn’t work if you’re having a tender moment when the audience are laughing at this song choice. This musical does not have any heart and light the film. But it does work very well in a theatre.
Clive Carter is wonderful!

We must remember the show did win 10 Tony awards. We must also remember that it had a fraction of the competition that musicals usually have in the race for the Tony. Aaron Tveit won in a category in which he was the only nominee. Its technical merits have never been in doubt tho

And Frozen might get nominated for an Olivier and this will not And Frozen would deserve every nomination it gets. Moulin Rouge might win some design awards, despite them looking very similar to the film, but not much else.

Does anyone know what the situation is about getting can can table seating? I can’t find any availability for them at all (including the new block of dates they just released) - is there a separate process for getting them? Thanks

Both the original leads are so uninspiring that a cover might be a nice option -- though I did love Quenton Letts in the Sunday Times yesterday passing judgment in print on Jamie Bogyo's bum .....

Did the main leads not have a natural chemistry?

Zoe Birkett has been in tech learning the cover as Satine.... if Zoe has scheduled Satine dates that might just convince me to go.
