It would be great if Grey Gardens opens in the West End. I missed it at Southwark. I recall those being rumored some time ago: -Hedwig and the Angry Inch -The King & I (there's a website, isn't there?) -The Visit (producers said as much towards the end of its short Broadway run) Fingers crossed.. I heard Grey Gardens was aiming for October, but if appears to have gone quiet. The King & I has apparently had its rights pulled so would appear to be happening. It was one of very few shows not running in the UK that was mentioned in the Olivier brochure / programme (which I recall Memphis also doing a year before it came over). A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder was rumoured for a while, but also seems to have gone quiet. The King and I is co-produced by ATG on Broadway so I assume they have UK rights to this production much like they did with South Pacific. If Baz is to believed, it's coming in 2017 with Kelli O'Hara. Would be a good show for the New London if they plan to recreate the staging from the Beaumont.

who owns the rights? and don't the writers have the right to withdraw the rights if the current right holder not use the license to actually mount the show? How does it work anyways, do they "rent" the show to keep the rights? What's the point of withdrawing it? I'm not sure on any of this. All I know is that has been the consistent rumour for a while and then when the Edinburgh Fringe thing happened it just confirmed it. I found this article though www.inforum.com/content/paperwork-mistake-prevents-act-ups-next-normal-cast-performing-scotland'Brusven said Act Up contacted the agency that holds the rights, Music Theatre International, trying to explain the situation. But because a future performance is planned in the United Kingdom, the agency denied this request, and Act Up’s scheduled performances of “Next to Normal” in Edinburgh were canceled before they started.'It seems there's been a UK production 'planned' since it was on Broadway but when and where we can expect it seems unanswerable.

They need to bring 9 to 5 and Love Me Tender in - both were sensational on tour

The Playhouse and Phoenix are always becoming available in recent years. Yes those two venues are usually free as they play limited runs. I think King and I will go to the Phoenix possibly.

The Phoenix is too small, my guess if it is an ATG house then the Piccadilly is more likely

What shows do you think will go into the theatres that will be empty next year?
E.g. Drury Lane, Victoria Palace, New London, Phoenix etc.

'The King & I' needs a huge theatre for the frock alone.
I kept thinking of Elaine Paige in the show when I saw Juliet Stevenson in 'Happy Days' as it happened . . . .

I am not sold on the idea that because ATG are producing a show therefore it MUST go into one of their theatres, ideally it would, but they could do what Shuberts and Nederlanders do in New York produce shows in competitor theatres.
King and I could be a limited run in Drury Lane and done via stunt casting. Could see that that Young Frankenstein would be a good fit for the Playhouse. I cannot see Dreamgirls running that long, similar run to Women on a verge................. Hamilton seems a dead cert for Victoria Palace. If King and I doesn't go into Drury Lane will they struggle to fill it, just like the London Palladium at the moment?

King and I could go drury lane for a limited run or Finding Neverland is rumoured to go there. Can't see FN running for ages in a huge theatre like that over here to be honest. Yeah Young Frakenstein could be good at Playhouse but i dont know if that would last long... I think Dreamgirls will run for quite a long time. I don't think it will flop, it's nearly sold out the run already!! I dont know what else could go drury lane but I'd like to see new work there

I think Dreamgirls will run WAYYYYYY longer than WOTV! Give it some credit, my god!
I would be surprised if it didn't do at least 18/24 months.

Is Dreamgirls really nearly sold out? The booking period they've released is rather short, which is why I think it appears to be "sold out". I'm sure a new booking block will open even before the show officially opens to guarantee some income prior to hitting the end of the booking period. BTW the site has been updated. It's no longer just a landing page as it was, but the amount of actual information on it is very limited. It's more or less a spotlight on Amber and booking information. I feel that we might finally get lucky with the Savoy with this one and get some day seats. Row AA has been removed from the booking site, unless it's replaced with an orchestra. I'm probably going to see this multiple times, so I have my fingers crossed it's going to day seat! For now I'm happy with my first preview ticket and another ticket to see the alternate sometime in Feb!

I wouldn't be surprised if The Humans ends up transferring to somewhere like the National, the Almeida or at a push the West End. Given Scott Rudin's the lead producer, the chances are very high especially if it wins Best new play at the Tonys.
