I wonder what happened to Something Rotten? Wasn't that at some point being almost certain to transfer to London? I don't think it was ever certain but it's been rumoured. What broadway transfers do you think are most likely to transfer and where to? It came up yesterday because a friend of mine had seen it on Broadway on Saturday was gushing about it, which reminded me. I did read an article around the time of it opening that it was pretty certain to go to London because a British writer was involved. Of course that could have been wishful thinking. It just vexes me greatly now because based on that article I decided to not see it in NY when I was there last summer. Instead I saw four shows that are more or less firmly coming to London (Aladdin is about to open, American in Paris is selling tickets and both Finding Neverland and Hamilton are firmly on schedule to come over), so I'm half-thinking that my trip to Broadway was a bit of a waste of time and money. Especially money. Although at least I got bragging rights about Hamilton. Ho-hum. Seriously, I have no thoughts and opinions about what's coming over otherwise. I'd still love to see Something Rotten come over, especially with the present hype around Shakespeare it should do well for a while. I'm a bit out of the loop otherwise as I only really pay attention to Broadway when I'm actually planning a trip over there, otherwise it's hard enough to keep up with what's going on on this side of the pond.

So I thought The Girls would go to Phoenix but G&D has extended by 3 months. Maybe it'll go there in January or just go to a new venue?

Yes, going on Twitter, it sounds like they were struggling to find a 1000 seat theatre a couple of weeks ago. But I imagine they will want to open before the cut off point for next year's Oliviers.

That's why I thought the Phoenix but it looks like guys and dolls has extended so they might have to wait until next year now

Cut off point is in Feb sometime I think. And it might not go to the Phoenix at all.

They need to bring Newsies over - I ADORED it on Broadway. Sensational show. Very American but hey, so is West Side Story!

Unless Disney have signed a 5 year deal or something for the Prince Edward, in which case they need another show to fill out the rest of the contract if Alladin only manages 3 years.

Looks like Big Fish won't go to either Duke of Yorks or Garrick as 2 new productions announced for those venues. I think maybe the playhouse or vaudeville?

Vaudeville is far too small for a musical of that size and I've heard the Playhouse has a long-term tenant moving in. Just heard though…not confirmed.

I meant to say 'Nice Fish', the play that is rumoured to come here with Mark Rylance. I don't know where Big Fish came from!! That's interesting regarding the Playhouse...

In fairness I really like the Big Fish score so would love that to come over, although its incredibly unlikely, but yeah I agree either Playhouse or Vaudeville for the Mark Rylance fish play.

Wonder what's going to the Duke of York's after Doctor Faustus since The Dresser isn't until October and I doubt they'll leave it dark for the summer.

Not much time to publicise a show though. Faustus comes off a month today. I guess they were planning to extend, but haven't sold well enough otherwise they would have surely announced it by now? Dresser can't be moved earlier due to tour dates and schedules. Would be a great, compact house for a fringe transfer, but short notice would make things very difficult. I'd say Grey Gardens (Jenna Russell wouldn't even have to tidy out her dressing room), but producer and director are busy with Titanic.
Fear we might be left with a Kenwright tour coming in or something.

The Duke of York's could be temporarily closing for sewerage works?

Maybe this is the meeting that The Toxic Avenger twitter was referring to?.. Could be a nice quick filler.

I'm guessing it'll be something that's touring or perhaps go dark so they can do renovations and fixing the pipes.

Toxic Avenger would be surprising. Maybe Private Lives off tour (again). Or Samuel West is doing Present Laughter in Bath and on tour until later August. That could perhaps be a short filler? Just a guess though.
