Going on message boards saying 'i know information but cant say' does come across as bragging or trying one up manship. It is best to either say what you know or dont say anything. Its just as bad when people say 'told you so'. You stay around the baords for a bit it becomes clear who the reliable posters are and who arnt. You dont need to do anything yourself. And george, yes phantoms comment was harsh but i think its just some of your posts come across as an excitable puppy (always assumed you were in your teens or something) and im not saying thats a negative and sometimes lack an awareness of the industry. And then other times you say you have this industry inside knowledge. Just a bit contradictory. But as i say, time quickly shows who is reliable etc so i wouldnt stress about it Joe. Youre a genius. Im on other forums where i could impart knowledge about the subject. I dont because its always greeted badly by other users.

I think poor George is taking the same tablets that Sheridan Smith is taking, for him to know what is going in BOTH the London Palladium and Drury Lane by a chance meeting with a producer is utter and clearly preposterous. What on earth?! Oh my goodness, go away! I dont know how you can make preposterous and offensive comments like that?! How dare you? After seeing what you said on here and that Oliviers 2017 thread, I think you're very rude man! Again, you don't know me so you can't tell me what I know and what I don't. It's not my fault I know some theatre producers, is it? I've done lots of ideal theatre producing already and got loads of experience so don't be so rude and make comments like that WHEN YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ME. I think you are alright Geroge, I don't dislike you, i love your enthuasim - but you can be a bit too eager and overbearing. I have made no personal judgements on you, other from what you post on here, as I don't know you. Am I expected to believe you know what is going into 2 big theatres at once? That a chance meeting with a producer would give a 15 year old kid an exclusive scoop, then qualify it by saying "but don't tell anyone", is utter poppycock. How you came across as aggresive when you were challenged, just proves you are living in la-la-land.

Considering you said I was naive, arrogant and lacked experience in the industry, I think you are very rude. You are expected to believe it because it is true, I don't have any reason to lie do I? You are making me so angry and upset right now as you are literally questioning my life. I have had meetings with several producers due to a musical I had created and all the shows I've planned. I know what is definitely going to Drury Lane and the two shows in the pipeline for Palladium. I'm getting aggressive as your being so patronising and rude regarding what I do :/

George with all due respect you cant expect people to believe you jusy because you say so. After all you dont believe everything you read online do you?
Thats why its nest its best to say what you know and over time build a reputation or dont say any thing

Okay I got permission from the producer to let you know.
42nd Street is going to Drury Lane. Both Big and Wind in the Willows have been wanting to get the Palladium, but ALW will only let them have limited seasons.
Okay, happy now? See I'm not lying!!

These ridiculously over-the-top comments, in this thread and others, telling other posters how rude they are etc is embarrassing to read. It must give a terrible impression of this board and community to first time casual visitors to the forum. It's spoiling the forum and while I don't think any of us want George to stop posting, I do think it's time to take a step back and reflect on how posting the same thing repeatedly, or saying you know something but can't post what it is, is likely to frustrate and irritate people. There's a common denominator in the issues that have developed here.
While we're all interested to some extent in what may or may not be opening and where, at the moment it feels like we're playing endless games of "will it/won't it", hot on the heels of "will she/won't she". I fully appreciate there's two sides to every story and that posts sharing news have been made with the best of intentions, nor is the enthusiasm for a particular performer a bad thing in moderation.
However, perhaps taking a moment to think about why people might be reacting in the way they are and realising that the vast majority of these comments are not personal attacks, would be better than rounding on every criticism with a comment of "how dare you" or telling people they're "very very very rude". Posts of "I know something but can't tell you" or rants at other users add nothing to the discussion and, rightly or wrongly, are clearly having a negative impact on the community that's otherwise a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of.

I don't really know enough about Big to know whether it would be mainstream enough to fill the Palladium, but I imagine Wind in the Willows could if it's a high budget, good production (which being Stiles and Drewe I would hope and expect). I haven't seen 42nd Street, do you know if it's the Chatelet version?

Wind in the Willows also has a book by Julian Fellowes and a great cast so I think it will end up in town, but where is the question.

I don't quite understand why ALW will only let them have limited seasons. Surely with the acquisition and desire of how to use the St James, I would have thought ALW would be wanting a new British musical or British version of a musical in the Palladium. And it's not as if, at least as far as public knowledge is concerned, a big revival or new ALW show is in the works which the Palladium is being held back for. But still, it would be great to see the theatre back with something in it.

That wasn't hard, 2 of those news stories have been scoops for Baz, but nothing confirmed yet. The Wind in the Willows is no surprise, as there is no other theatre available, mid size and over and has to go somewhere, with the cast and creative team in place. Said before both the London Palladium and Drury Lane are colossal behemoths places to sell, where producers want mid-size house now, as this is where dynamic ticket prices are most effective. so bloody give them mid-size houses. With the London Palladium close the Upper Circle, this will leave just the Stalls and Dress Circle, this will reduce capacity to 1500-1600. Same with Drury Lane close the Balcony and Upper Circle and reduce capacity by 600, giving a similar size theatre to the London Palladium. First rule of business adapt to what the market wants. Not saying you can't open the other areas up, if the Stalls and Royal Circle start to sell out, you can open these up when demand is high or knock these seats out as Day Tickets or on the Today App, not handing a massive theatre to a producer and say all you need to do is sell it out. Even Andrew Lloyd Webber the owner didn't want one neither theatre for his latest show.

Thats a fair comment on theatre size. Id thought a lot about the long term effects on the industry of dynamic pricing and concluded much the same. Why go for the massive houses with their big overheads and probably empty seats many performances when you can have the house full signs out most shows at higher prices in a mid size house

It's true you can make more seats in a smaller house than a large house.

I believe Equity would take convincing on the smaller houses thing. Equity rates is set at a house size, but it is the house size as currently set (adding or removing a few seats to change rates of pay isn't allowed to have an effect).

The only times theatres have lost capacity is through disrepair which is what happened to the Dominion's upper circle or accident like the Apollo where it's very unlikely the balcony will ever be reopened.

I know about the accident but have they not repaired it? The dominiums upper circle wow I remember that! As for the Apollo yes they have repaired it and put that moon designed cloth covering the auditorium ceiling. Does that cover the gods too?

Anyone else hearing anything?

ST Hate to be a 'Debbie Downer', but I went to Titanic yesterday (which I LOVED btw) and met a few of the actors after the show. I asked Claire Machin (Alice Beane) if the rumours were true and she said no. Such a shame, the show really deserves to last longer!

Wouldn't be surprised if Danielle Taranto is looking for a West End house for a different production of hers and someone misinterpreted that. As I understand it, the Charing Cross run is as close Titanic is intended to get to the West End.

It has been reported on here that Titanic hasn't sold well, where it is, so why would they transfer this?
