Sounds like they’ve sent a bunch of emails asking for permission. Hopefully it’ll come off. I suspect it's be online only if it goes ahead as broadcast rights are a different ball game altogether. |

That would make it harder to access at a time when many are finding themselves out of work, and theatres would miss a huge opportunity to reach out beyond their mainly middle-class, middle-aged and over demographic. They could bring on board a generation of converts here. |

looks like the BBC are going to show the Almeida's Albion. I hope they can show Jerusalem (unlikely I know, but...). I think Albion was always going to debut on television as it was filmed quite recently. I would probably guess that while not strictly theatre, I wouldn't be surprised if things like King Charles III, The Hollow Crown air on TV. |

Yesterday I walked from London Bridge to Westminster along the South bank. Pubs, bars and restaurants open and all doing good business but I could of walked into any and got a table. I walked past the cold brutalish Nash and no bars open unlike the NFT and RFH which were both had busy bars.
I'm guessing the NT doesn't need to make any money?

How do you suddenly open when you've made 400 staff redundant? |

As the question has now been asked twice 😉, I feel compelled to answer.
Although the NT's bar staff provide their services to an in-house commercial subsidiary (Royal National Theatre Enterprises Ltd), they are employed, in the legal sense, by the parent, "and the cost of their employment is recharged to the company."

I'm not sure if this belongs on this thread but here goes: Yesterday I felt so depressed by the news that I took out a month's subscription to National Theatre Live and watched "London Assurance". I found it hilarious. It made me nostalgic for the days when the NT was fun. OK I wouldn't want an entire season of Victorian comedies but it would be good to have a few more productions there with a sense of joy. Perhaps "Jack Absolute..." will bring this.

If the AD resigns surely the post has to go through the usual process that all public sector job go through?
Maybe X is already lined up but still a process needs to be applied - doesn't it ?

Indhu Rubasingham and Clint Dyer? Either could potentially do a good job, although Indhu has more experience. She seems perfect for the job - successful stint as AD of a smaller theatre, a few West End transfers, interesting commissions and critical success, and she’s directed several times at the NT, plus it would be nice to have both a woman and POC. Dyer seems set up as successor, but so did Erica Whyman at the RSC, and there will be a selection process. There are quite a few AD jobs vacant (Hampstead, Chichester), soon to be vacant (Royal Court, Donmar, Kiln, NT) or new appointees not yet in post (RSC). Are there others? It will be interesting to see how the theatre landscape looks over the next 5 years or so with all of these places under new leadership. |

Chichester's AD position has been filled, it's Justin Audibert. |

Not sure I would have confidence in Rubasingham considering the situation which lost them a lot of support that she presided over at The Tricycle now Kiln.
