I think it used to be £2 per ticket, and now it's £4 per transaction. So that's okay for people with 2+ tickets to return, but a hefty increase for solo theatregoers.

Arguably it should be x% of ticket price given that £4 is not a large cost to someone who has a £89 ticket but is quite a lot if you only paid £20 in the first place. I get that the amount of admin effort is the same regardless of ticket price but charging 20% of the ticket price as a penalty seems a bit harsh.

16-18 year old tickets are £5 - so that's an 80% fee! Feels absurd and it is, makes the process basically redundant at lower prices.

I like to support the National but I have to question why I pay a Priority Membership if charges like that are tacked on. Even ATG don't charge you for exchanges if you have a membership.

Can I charge them an admin fee for each show they've cancelled on me, insisting I rebook at inflated prices? Of course not.
The only weapon you have is to do what I did last year: take out a Priority membership without paying the "charity" donation. Tell them why you're doing it too. It costs £11 rather than £80. They are breaking tax laws if they refuse, as the donation has to be voluntary to be exempt from 20% VAT. If enough people do this, they might start treating theatregoers a bit more fairly.
And quite why do they need to fund a Deputy Artistic Director? Why isn't one enough?

It's £2.50 per ticket at the Barbican (I'm a member of both the Barbican and the NT.) To be honest I'm just grateful that you can exchange them at all! I've got tickets for a prom next week where the main draw for us was that Anthony Braxton was due to play one of his own compositions. We got an email last week saying that as Braxton is ill a different performer will play his music. No suggestion that we can get a refund or exchange. I do get the point that if you've bought a £20 ticket (as I often have) then £4 is a big chunk, but it must be a bit of a nightmare when there are many returns.

Interesting. Not sure it would help cos the NT might want to call in star directors and actors for a one off show, like a big musical. It might be good to have a company which could tackle a group of plays with a theme or something like that.

I do hope that the Green Store in Bermondsey - the National's new place for storing costumes, props etc. - will have occasional backstage tours. It looks like a fascinating place. The six minute video they have made alongside today's announcement 'Theatre Green Book: A Sustainable Manifesto' is worth a look, with some glimpses of recent productions as well as of the new storage facility.

I just logged in with my priority membership and also am getting the "no results found" for all shows. A nice Monday morning job for their IT support.

Yes, same here BUT...........I clocked onto the general calendar, then to a chosen date and there was the seat map!!! Tix booked. Never ever done it that way before. Do give it a try, it worked for me. Very very frustrating though. Shame on you NT/Amex.
