Wasn't there very nearly a west end run of this at some point? I vaguely remember it actually went on sale then vanished.

I remember similar happening to Jed Butterworth’s The River, Which went on sale at the Duchess.

The casting breakdown went out this morning I think, running for about a month from 13 February to 10 March; press night is on 15 February. Above The Stag. Love this show!

Excellent. Thanks for sharing terrylondon79 With programming lots of musicals Above the Stag is now really appealing to its target audience! And why not, the new venue is one of the smartest fringe theatres in London |

The problem I have with this show is that it was very much rooted in its original trio of performers - the jokes, sense of humour etc all came about through their improvised work. And for a recent-ish show it's already quite 'of its time'.
So when new performers take over, I feel it loses something in translation.

I also saw it at the Landor and the Waterloo East Theatre did it also.

I’ve just checked and I booked for it in Dec 2012 for a show in mid-Feb 2013, but got an email late Jan to say it was no longer coming and I was getting a refund. If I remember rightly I had received physical tickets. I did see it subsequently at the Landor and was quite disappointed; not sure if it was an issue with that production. |

My first show on Broadway. And I saw it with all th “originals”
Whilst it would be great to see I again, I just don’t see it working as well without the originals.

I saw a very pared back amateur production of it last year and thought it was great. I had no idea about it’s origins or that it had been personality based to begin with and therefore it wasn’t an issue. The cast were great and the humour and originality shone through.

Yep, I saw it last night actually. Thought it was very fun - a clever meta musical for musical theatre fanatics. Some great laugh out loud moments and a brilliant cast. I'd recommend it to any musical theatre fan (especially those on this board 😉🎭👀).

Yeah I enjoyed it too. It was great to see Jordan Fox after all the positive feedback on his Kinky Boots performances (plus he takes his top off in this, yay). Loved all the musical references. The only shame was the size of the audience when I saw it, there were only 14 of us!
