All 39 of them? Or however many there are in 3 teams? I wouldn't mind I thought the tiny girl who was hardly taller than the bass guitar she was rocking and the boy on the guitar were fantastic in what they did and would like to see them rewarded for the hard work that must have gone into rehearsing this show. But I wouldn't single out two from a larger group as the show really only works as a collective. The nomination for outstanding achievement in music for School of Rock is for the 12 children in the band (four in each of the three teams) playing instruments live every night

I must admit, I am seriously thinking of wasting my ticket and not going this year. After seeing Jason Manford in Chitty, I can't see how he is going to bring any prestige to the awards...Plus no red carpet walk for us 'normals' and we'll be in the worst seats in the RAH, it's not exciting me this year at all.

Disappointing that the move seems to mean losing the side stuff at Covent Garden as well.

I'm usually really excited for these awards, but I'm just not this year. I only care about three of the catagories really. I wanna see Charlie win Actor in a Musical, which I think is gonna happen. I wanna see Sheridan win Actress in a Musical, which again I think is actually gonna happen. But the real race of the night for me is Supporting Actress in a Musical, which I thought was a toss up between Emma and Rebecca but now with Victoria in the mix I can se any of the thre taking it (I didn't see Haydn in her performance so I can't really judge if she is worthy haha).

I think the actress in a musical is quite hard to call actually - I would prefer Amber to win it over Sheridan. Amber had a better voice but Sheridan was better at the comedy so it's swings and roundabouts. I'm rlly hoping Dreamgirls wins big

It's so annoying. I would definitely have paid the extra £30 for the prime ticket option

With the Tony's, Dorothy was in the Lead catagory and Peggy was in Supporting, even though it is very evident, in this production at least, that that should not be the case. Hopefully the Oliviers will not follow suit, under then assumption both Sheena and Clare get nominated, which, in my opinion, they both deserve too!

Sheena was only great coz it was assumed she wud be sh*te. Don't confuse not being sh*te with being award worthy.....

I'm not at all saying she is award-worthy, just going with the assumption that if her and/or Clare get nominated, they will fit into either category.

Neither will get nominated. Their parts are too poorly written.

They actually gave Dorothy an extra song to bulk up her role just for this production so I'd expect her to be in the lead category. She also had the great line 'I just wanted someone to be gay with' which just about summarises my life.

I personally thought she was fabulous, but a role that literally is on stage for 10 minutes in Act II, that isn't a Leading Actress. Urgh, you win some, you lose some.

I don't particularly expect to see any of the acting performances in 42nd Street nominated at all. I don't think anyone acted badly, in fact I thought the performances were brilliant & solid all-round, but the script only gives them so much to work with, and this show really ain't about the acting. And I'm sure there'll be many other productions over this next year that'll quickly fill up those spaces!
Creatively however, there are definitely some awards to deservedly be won for choreography, costume, set, lighting, sound, that weird music award and best musical revival. And if they ever brought back best ensemble, it would be for this. Though who knows what else we'll be blessed with this year!

Back to this year, at the minute I am currently thinking:
Best Actor in a Musical: Charlie Stemp for Half a Sixpence Best Actress in a Musical: Sheridan Smith for Funny Girl Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical: Adam J. Bernard for Dreamgirls Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical: Victoria Hamilton-Barritt for Murder Ballad

No drama and so no awards. Also, and I've thought about this lots, the only reason we r bogging up the ensemble is there are so many of them. They do nothing more or less than ur average opening ensemble it's just it's so spectacular there is so many of them. But that don't mean they should win awards....

Don't discount anything - Christine Ebersole actually won the Best Leading Actress Tony for playing Dorothy Brock in the 2001 NYC revival. Though I don't think it's too unfair to say that she's a better actress and singer than Sheena Easton (not to mention having an illustrious theatrical career)
