Binged on this over the last couple of days. Really interesting premise where outwardly charming, funny and a bit geeky guy Joe Goldberg turns out to be a psychopath when it comes to stalking the object of his affections Beck. The way he uses social media to establish connections with the girl as well is for day to day stalking activities is particularly revealing and a strong message for those who live their entire unfiltered life on Facebook to maybe think about some security. There’s an ongoing subplot which demonstrates that in every other respect Joe is a normal, caring guy, a prince in many respects. He’ll just stop at nothing to get “You”.
Penn Badgely plays Joe, never seen him before but he’s excellent, switching from darkly funny to menacing and creepy. Elizabeth Lail plays Beck, trapped in a popularity contest with a group of Heathers style stereotypes. It loses its way a bit in the middle but stick with it for a decent finish.

Watched the pilot last night, I really liked it. Looking forward to seeing a couple more episodes tonight.

Penn Badgley was Dan Humphrey in gossip girl and this feels like what that character could have turned into.
It was interesting that the victim was so difficult to like too.

Finished this last night. Loved it! So freaking dark, my kind of thing. Penn is just exquisite in this (in every way). I could have done without Beck actually cheating on Joe with the therapist though. More shows like this pls! |

I'm three episodes in and hooked.
And yes I also love that the victim is equally unlikable (as is just about everyone in it actually bar the small child!)

I'm currently watching this sort of in parallel with reading the book, which is really interesting. Joe is WAY more likeable in the series. Partly because we don't get as much of his inner monologue, which is creepy as all hell, and partly because he's so sweet to the kid (who doesn't exist in the book), I think?
Conversely, I'm liking Beck less in the show (unlike y'all I still do like her though, three episodes in). I think, because the book is completely from Joe's point of view, and he always refers to Beck as "you", as if he's addressing her in his mind, it's very easy to put yourself in her shoes.
All in all, I'm loving both!

Yes, I too have binged watched the entire series in the last few days. I really enjoyed it. It wasn't quite as predictable as I thought it was going to be.
The use of social media and mobile phones was quite alarming.
I found the convoluted nature of the central relationship fascinating.
A second series has already been made and is premiering in the US now.
