Certainly an odd experience watching Ben Elton/Kenneth Branagh's All is True straight after his Shakespeare/Dickens Upstart Crow mash up. I'm not sure that was the best episode but full marks for the idea of Marley's Ghost as Marlowe's ghost. All is True is very much a reworking of the final episode of the last series with the aftermath of Hamnet's death. A very powerful melancholic film, with practically no camera moves, and long sustained takes of McKellen and Branagh and Dench doing what they do so brilliantly, emoting with just their eyes and voice. A rather beautiful film, with not a theatre in sight.
