For anyone interested (or planning to pass through Zurich in the next few weeks) there is a production of Sweeney Todd at the Zurich Opera House until 11 Jan. I haven't seen it yet (next week) but it has gained rapturous reviews from the local press. There is an excellent trailer on Youtube:
It is conducted by David Charles Abell and the rest of the cast look to be excellent. My only reservation is the Austrian opera singer Angelika Kirchschlager as Mrs Lovett. She had to skip the second performance and was replaced (apparently at Bryn Terfel's suggestion) by Shân Cothi from Wales. Anybody know anything about her?
