Just had my annual visit to the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and it so delivers. It really is the best of a plethora of Nutcrackers - so lavish, and great staging, and gorgeous and rather moving. Still the plot is a bit crazy with the Prince dancing with the sugar Plum Fairy rather than Clara, and what happens to fritz who was clearly in love with clara, but anyway, sit there and marvel. I was lucky enough to chat to ballet legends past, present and future - always a bonus. They are taking a version of the production to the royal albert hall.
