There were apparently Zoom auditions for children for Joseph a couple of days ago.

I hated Sheridan and hate everything she is in. Awful. Jodie on the other hand - would be GREAT! Super talent I have to ask. If you hate everything Sheridan is in why waste your money and go and see her. A it’s a musical and not a one woman show B I live in hope that she proves me wrong! C I actually liked Funny Girl and the entire show, cast, book, music, musical itself, set, costumes, lighting, direction, orchestra and sound design, Sheridan disappointed me with her average standard singing sadly. D I thought Joseph was bad for lots of reasons. The epic 1990’s RUG version it was not. E I pay for my tickets. She was very good in Cilla the ITV series on TV though.

There was a rumour I heard early last year that they had cast Jodie Prenger to be the Narrator. Personally, I reckon she'd be a great fit with the narrator as she is in this production. She could certainly do the comedy and working with the children like Sheridan did, and I'd argue she'd sing it better too. I'd go and see that. Joseph at the Palladium was mum and I's first Wendy end show. we would of loved to have seen the revival but not with La Smith.

Presumably we don’t know rescheduled dates fof the Cilla tour? Will it count her out of Joseph?

My feeling is that if Sheridan was reprising her role in Joseph it would have been announced by now especially as she sells tickets and they would like to have the advance sales. Plus I believe I read recently that she is soon to film a new TV drama so think that rules her out for the summer. With regard to Cilla Musical I am wondering if they are planning on the tour being similar dates as it should have been last year i.e October/November. I've left my booking pending in Birmingham with ATG in case it happens later this year but if I don't hear anything in the next couple of months I think I will ask for a refund.

I was just listening to Sheridans podcast which, this week, was with Beverly Knight. I didnt know but Beverly has previously been narrator in Joseph. Wonder if she is a contender for this production. She has done panto there and also did a covid test event concert so obviously has friends there. She wouldn't be my choice but just putting it out there.

She would NAIL Pharaoh's Story. With a million amateur versions over the years, people forget that the Narrator's role can be an absolute vocal powerhouse spine tingling tour de force.

Linzi Hateley was absolutely brilliant as the Narrator, 30 years back - it isn’t a role that is restricted by age and would be interesting if she reprised her role.

It would be exactly 30 years to the month since she and Jason opened in the show at the same theatre. I'd love to see her back for it.

I grew up on the 1991 cast recording (on cassette, naturally) and to me her voice is the narrator. I'd love to see her perform it in the flesh.

Most of the vocal excitement in Joseph comes from the narrator, and short of maybe Carol Stennet at Kilworth a couple of years ago, we haven’t had a thrilling ‘Pharoah’s Story’ since Linzi. Please let it be so!

Please let it be so! I would agree, but only in the RUG production. The Kenwright tour had some incredible ones over the years (Louise Dearman for example...)...and on that production they made them sing it in the original keys! It’s a sad state of affairs when you have a 20 year old on equity minimum belting out a top E/G in “Chained and bound afraid alone...” eleven times a week on tour, and then you go and watch the RUG show and they get easier keys, alternate notes, and probably on six times as much money... Ahh well, ‘twas ever thus....

Ahh well, ‘twas ever thus.... Ah I must have lucked out when I’ve risked the wobbly cardboard tour. It was a perfectly serviceable young lady when I saw hfromsteps in it then possibly a ‘didn’t get to the final’ Maria the time before that. Nothing wrong with it, just not Linzi good.

Add me to the list of people who would LOVE to see Linzi.
Sadly I don't think the Twitter thing means anything. Followed her for years and she quite often re-tweets posts where people have mentioned the 90s Joseph!
Funnily enough I was listening to a podcast with ALW the other week - was a mother and daughter and about cookery, can't for the life of me remember their names. Anyway they mentioned that they had seen Jospeh at the Palladium in the 90s and went to to say "there was this amazing narrator, incredible voice, with short really funky hair and a couple of great jackets." They were clearly talking about Linzi. I don't think I have ever heard ALW mention her. Anyway, so at this point I immediately thought he'd reply "yes, that was Linzi Hateley and yes, she was amazing." But he didn't. The mystery lady was never named and he in fact replied "yes and last year we had the wonderful Sheridan Smith which showed how wonderfully the Narrator can be portrayed in a different way."
Ouefff! Give me strength!
(Has Linzi ever worked with ALW other than this? Can't think of anything. But do hope he rates her as much as we do. The one thing that springs to my mind is I think she'd have been a sublime Rose in Aspects of Love. Maybe too old now. Though if Glennis can be Norma....)
