I've spotted this cast recording on ebay, listed as 'JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT - RICHARD SWERRUN SOUNDTRACK CD', if you want to check the photos to see if it's the right one (and maybe buy it again!).

Thank you. I don't recognise the album artwork at the front and would have been interested to see the back. I just wish I coukd hear a few tracks off of it as I would know straight away. It's definitely a mystery this one.

Can anyone confirm that this is the CD featuring Julie Maguire and Richard Swerrun?

Yes indeedy. It was sold during the 98 tour. The best Joseph imho such a shame he left the profession.

If they want people who can sing, act and have a large following, maybe Troye Sivan? Gosh, the Josephs keep getting thinner and thinner and scrawnier and scrawnier. In the scene where Joseph is imprisoned, Sivan could just walk straight through the bars - without even having to turn sideways!!! He’s cute though. Joe McElderry looked fairly thick set when I saw him in panto the same year as he had played Joseph, I thought he looked a lot broader than when he was on X-Factor. But I don't know what he looked like in the loincloth so possibly it might have been more his face had just filled out as he got older given he was only 18 when he won X-Factor.

He's unlikely to do it but Taron Egerton would be great and he can sing and act. Hasn't done theatre for a while though.

Richard was a good Joseph when I saw the show - I don't really like talking about it as my father died a couple of weeks later and when I saw the show again it reminded me of him too much so I've never seen it since.
Someone who I bump into at a number of musicals is a good friend of Julie Maguire and she told me that Richard was "rather old" to play Joseph back then. The last I heard of him he had produced a tour of a musical possibly The Boyfriend which went bankrupt and there was a story about it in The Stage.

All this talk of Joseph made me go hunting for my cast recording but it seems I may have put it to charity and I have searched online with no luck! I remember it had Linzi Hateley as the Narrator however it wasn't the London Palladium recording and didn't have Lee Mead or Donny Osmond as Joseph. Does anyone have any ideas which album this was and who could have been Joseph? Donny Osmond? Catch up, petal (see my avatar) ... Donny Osmond toured over the US as Joseph, and is in Sir ALW's filmed version with Maria Friedman as the Narrator, Sir Richard Attenborough as Jacob, Joan Collins as Mrs Potiphar and Christopher Biggins as the Baker! He's lovely in a loincloth .....

I saw this in 1998. The only time I've seen Joseph, actually.

Now decided I want to nominate Christina Bennington for narrator. 'Nuff said. Perfect choice! And she is known to ALW after she was Pearl at The Other Palace's Starlight....

But... but... we need her to be Pearl in the upcoming Starlight revival at the Dominion along with Andrew as Rusty Seriously though, as much as I like her as Raven, I don't see her exude the necessary warmth for the Narrator, who's surrounded by kids all the time. That said, if she did it, I'd be totally there for it.

She was INCREDIBLY charming in The Smallest Show on Earth, I wouldn't assume that her being unable to find warmth in an underwritten character like Raven means she lacks it all together.

That's the first I've heard (and should probably be in its own hread).
