Well there’s a month to go, so we will know soon enough. We are booked for first night, so will be able to report back...

A negative opinion is just as valid as a positive one, regardless of how it's put across. Why should everyone think it's all rainbows and unicorns every time a show opens? No one actively wants a show to close, apart from those people in the 'close a long runner thread' What about all the people it will put out of work!! If cast members are upset at people judging a show they're in, maybe they're in the wrong business. We'll see how big of a turkey it's going to be on BGT this week, but of course people will be saying How amazing it was, and how fabulous it looks, regardless of how it goes.

As someone who has seen the tour several times I am overjoyed that it seems to be having a bit of an overhaul. Some performances I saw really were not great

It's gonna be awkward if Sheridan ever goes off.

It's gonna be awkward if Sheridan ever goes off. Do we know who her understudy is? Natasha J. Barnes?

Trouble is that compared to the original Palladium production is does sound a bit pants so far.

A negative opinion is just as valid as a positive one, regardless of how it's put across. At this stage of the game, though, we have to remember that the negative and positive opinions are just as educated as the other. (Generally speaking.)

What's going on? lol Anyone care to update me on the current situation? Nobody really knows yet as the production hasn’t opened. People just like to form opinions long before they’ve seen things.

Yes they do. Like thinking Sheridan Smith will be amazing in it. ...or that her voice is remotely suited to it.

They will rewrite the score for her as they have apparently done so many other things for her. It is her show.

I am confident this will be great. It is SO rare that musicals that make it to a West End stage are of poor quality (whether they are to your personal taste is of course a different matter) and we are really blessed in London due to this.
Of course the occasional thing gets through with poor production values, but in the West End that is a rare exception to the rule.

This is true. Nobody sets out to make a flop or give a duff performance. But they do sometimes focus on the wrong elements or depend on an unsuitable cast member . We just have to believe. Joseph fails when its done on the cheap and without heart. I doubt this will be allowed to happen.

The thing is, all the critics who go along to review the show will be asking if it's still relevant? If you're going to mount an anniversary production, and at The Palladium, you need something new.
Given the last time Andy Lloyd Rubber added a new song to this (Elvis' Durge) I'd rather he didn't try again here. Having a star turn do several parts, and featuring a younger cast (the show being many people's first foray into musical theatre, so you might as well show that they can be amazing), this sounds like an intriguing and novel approach.
They've obviously looked at all the "bit parts" and decided what will work, and it solves a lot of the inherent "sexism" in the show by having a female Narrator portray these roles too.

Please excuse my male ignorance, but where is there sexism in the show, and how does the narrator playing Jacob help it?

Please excuse my male ignorance, but where is there sexism in the show, and how does the narrator playing Jacob help it? Usually the only roles for women in the show are scantily clothed hand-maidens, a sex crazed Mrs Potiphar, saloon girls, and dancing girls. It also completely ignores the fact that Jacob had daughter, Dinah, and reduces his 2 wives to mere fawning extras. I didn't say the Narrator would be playing Jacob. But they could do an interesting Victor-Victoria style effect with Potiphar.
