Unless he has obscene tattoos, I don't see the problem with showing them.

Unless he has obscene tattoos, I don't see the problem with showing them. Not obscene, just too numerous to not be a distraction or problem, and given how much of the show he’d spend with thrm out I wouldn’t have thought they’d even offer it to him.

Jaymi Hensley has tattoos who's currently playing the role on tour...I've not seen any photos yet though

I know it's not a *long* show, but it's not like he spends literally half of it in the loin cloth? Mind you, although it is very much a show not to be taken too seriously, a large number of tattoos (or, pedantically speaking, *any* number) is very much against the Old Testament.

Yet they painted some tattoos on some actors for Jesus Christ Superstar Live, for example. I see your point, but yeah, it shouldn't be taken too seriously.
I'm against performers having to cover their tattoos. But this is a discussion that doesn't belong here.

Jesus Christ Superstar is New Testament. But you're right, let's not derail any further.....

Excuse my ignorance. As an atheist I don't really know the Bible. Just the basics.

Excuse my ignorance. As an atheist I don't really know the Bible. Just the basics. Broadly, there's a verse somewhere in the Tanakh which is widely used as an example of why tattoos are forbidden. The story of Joseph is in the Book of Genesis which is the first book in the Tanakh. It's also in the Old Testament for the Christians amongst us so therefore, Joseph probably wouldn't have a tattoo. The story of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' is more from the New Testament. We don't bother with the New Testament because of all that 'Messiah' nonsense. And we got blamed for how it ended (of course) and it wasn't our fault so he can have as many tattoos as he likes. Anyhoo, we're the chosen people anyway so we win in the end. Hoorah!

By the time we get to the third and fourth testaments, of course, it's less about tattoos and more about FGM, really. And frogs, I think the frogs are important.

Not sure it's that unusual - still waiting to hear on Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar also!
(That said, of course I would also now like to know!)

Laurence Connor is director... Your welcome Really? So this “re-imagined” production will have lots of elements of the Palladium version... if his Les Mis and Phantom productions are anything to go by.

It’ll be pretty much a carbon copy, but without any expensive looking bits. Like the black box Phantom, but with a paper lampshade from Habitat.

Sheridan Smith was offered Narrator, think it might still be in Talks but both schedule and money are an issue. Rumours Catherine Tate has been approached as well as the brief for the understudy for that role is needs to be funny. I think it's known that Jason Donavan is playing I believe Pharoh, and it looks like Joesph will be a legit MT performer rather then a big name.

The only possible role Catherine Tate could play is Mrs Potipher and that is for all of 2 minutes. If that does happen it's because they're desperate for a name and she s taking a huge salary.

apparently Lord Webber is up for changing the key. it seems it's the narrator is the profile. Considering Joseph was originally meant to be Declan Donnelly, looks like Andrew isn't being a stickler when it comes to transposing down for the right profile.
