So you're assuming i dont/never have, and because i might not deal with things in the way you do, you think i don't understand them?? Ok.... I'm not assuming anything, but it's very simple - if you really understood mental health issues then you would know that it is utterly unacceptable in any context and potentially very damaging to label someone a "trainwreck". Potential is the key here - whether it affects you personally is a question of your mental strength, but you can't assume everyone is as thick skinned or stable as you seem lucky enough to be. If you can't see it, then that's up to you, but I'm not going to apologise for calling you out on it because you really touched a nerve with me and your post was frankly upsetting and incredibly unhelpful. I'm being more honest here than I usually feel capable of being anywhere in the hope it might make you see that all I'm doing is asking you to have a bit of compassion and think before you criticise someone so harshly, which shouldn't be difficult. Mods, I know this is getting off topic, and I apologise for that but it's important to me so I'd rather discuss this publicly than through reporting posts. But if you think differently then feel free to move this. I suffer from depression and have had mental health issues and can be a mess sometimes so a trainwreck could be used to describe myself. Sheridan went through the death of her father and then plowed on with the Funny Girl West End run and tour. She took some time off the London run and then when she had mumps on tour. She has had to push her UK tour back due ton getting a lot of TV offers and she if anything needs to limit her workload using a quality not quantity formula ideally. The Sun is going on that she has only sold 3,000 tickets for a gig in Hull. 3,000 tickets is still a lot IMO and you'd be talking around 100k box office gross for one gig alone. I wouldn't see her as the right choice for the Narrator and she could get bigger and better roles but if ALW threw big money at her for a limited run then she might fancy it as it would put her back on stage in not a too taxing role. But realistically I'd look for someone who the role would be a big deal for or cast someone more in their mid 20's to 30.

Interestingly much talk about who ALW may/may not want.
I am not actually sure how involved he is with this - it's not produced by RUG so it may not be down to him. (Having said that, I agree it's hard to imagine him NOT having a say in casting...)

Given that some of the original versions had a male narrator and this is an anniversary production, it could be possible.

Female Joseph and Male Narrator ? Please no...way to rob the score of all it’s high points! My post was meant to be tongue in cheek. A female Joseph would be really stretching our imaginations but a male Narrator if there was one originally could be an idea. Maybe have two "names" alternating the two main roles? Did Marcus Collins who was in the X-Factor play the narrator in a more recent production or am I just imagining that?

I’m not sure about Collins but I’m sure a different male X Factor person did it on tour a few years ago? Anyone?

Don’t take away the one good female role in the show!
But don’t make Joseph female either.

Could be wrong but I think Keith Jack from Any Dream Will Do TV show was a male narrator while Judith Chalmers was Joseph. When the latter left to become Ryan Ryder, Keith got Joseph and the Narrator returned to a female. Think it was just a way for Kenwright to maximise sales when the TV show was still fresh in people's minds.

Now decided I want to nominate Christina Bennington for narrator. 'Nuff said. Actually there is one well known person I'd love to see and that is Christina Bennington! Reviving these posts after seeing Christina Bennington in the MT Fest Taster Menu shows tonight and being reminded of just how fantastic her voice is. She could certainly bring Hateley levels of thrill to the score!

I'm currently whizzing through a recording of Lee Mead from 2007 and being reminded of just how much loincloth action there is. In light of this, someone call Richard Fleeshman's people NOW

She'd be a great Narrator also. And I LOVED Jenna Lee James in the Lee Mead/Gareth Gates version. Great rocky voice, great belt. I'm surprised she's not had more lead roles TBO, though she is currently Grizabella in the European Cats tour and has done Mamma Mia.
