Su Pollard is on our local panto this Christmas so clearly getting the practice in I bet she’s a hoot in panto; where is that? Su Pollard is in pantomime at the Sunderland Empire Theatre this year.

I do wonder though as well if she’ll be able to do all her dates. Not in anyway suggesting pregnant woman are invalids, but I imagine (I dunno I’ve never been pregnant) that some of the more physical stuff will be difficult as she will be about 8 months gone in May. They may just change the choreography a bit. We shall have to wait and see!

Alexandra has confirmed on insta she’s still doing the Joseph tour as scheduled! I did wonder a while back why her and Linzi were not alternating dates and Linzi was doing a big clump in the middle of the tour! She’s obviously just covering her mat leave. Seems it’s worked out well!

Anyone seen this yet? Any notable differences to the Palladium production? I'm doing 2 dates in Liverpool, and one in Blackpool! It's just a shame they're not playing Hartlepool, Welshpool and er...Poole or I'd have had to go there too on my tour of places ending in Pool! lol. I jest, its coincidence. I might have a spare ticket for the wed matinee in L'Pool cos I was taking my Mum, but she FORGOT and booked a flight to Spain so she can't go! Flamin' cheek of some people!! ha ha

I only managed to see Alexandra at the Palladium, who was brilliant, but Linzi is one of my favourite's of all time. (I highly recommend anyone giving her albums a spin on streaming as they are now available - they're all brilliant!)

Sad news that richard swerrun had died. He was Joseph on tour and the West End for so many years. So sad to hear this - I remember seeing him many times as Joseph, so full of life. Are there any online tributes? Hi, only just seen this. If you didn't know already there is a tribute group to Richard on Facebook. It's run by myself with permission from his family. www.facebook.com/groups/2256668337690137

This is the show I've seen many more times than any other at over 400, and all but a handful of those have been the Bill Kenwright production. So I was very dubious about seeing this, and only went because it was my local venue and Linzi was doing it. I knew from reading other comments that it wouldn't be the show I know and love, but what have they done with it?! I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't that. All the cast were good, but I just didn't get the concept. I didn't get the kids playing half the parts and the narrator playing Jacob and Mrs Poitphar. And it just seemed too OTT and silly.
They haven't messed around with Close Every Door, and I think I would have liked that if I wasn't traumatized by that point! And I liked the megamix. And the colourful stage. And there's a tap dance. But the ending seemed rushed with Joseph's reveal, and there's no big coat at the end ... he sings Give me my coloured coat and nothing happens! Everyone else seemed to really enjoy it though, it got a great reception, but I felt as though I was watching a different show!

Can't anyone post anything without someone being snarky?
I would have felt the same Rozzi, you are allowed to think a show has been altered too much. Sounds like I wouldn't have liked that version either, I don't need kids playing parts!

This and the original Palladium production is far superior to the BK Panto production in my eyes. We’re have to agree to disagree on this…

Bit of snark here I’m afraid. I thought it was ghastly with Sheridan Smith mugging all over the place and removing any ounce of drama from it. Back in Linzi’s hands it felt like a delightful meander back down memory lane, especially when she was occasionally allowed to option up. The kids & narrator playing other parts is still a crappy bit of penny pinching (“yes Laurence, you can have your name on it but you’ve got to lose at least £50k and you have to do my Cinderella”).

I felt the new Joseph was just like the Kenwright version but with a slightly bigger budget. In fact I think overall I prefer Kenwrights version, at least it knows what it is and doesn't pretend otherwise.

The new version and the Kenwright version are equally as bad, just for different reasons.

I have a spare ticket for this on Wednesday at liverpool, matinee (2.30) my mum forgot she was coming with me and booked a holiday to Spain! (Bit rude) and cos it’s a Wednesday afternoon literally no one else I know can take it! It’s row A stalls and includes drinks and snacks. Mums already paid for it so its free of charge if anyone wants it! Just don’t want it to go to waste! I know my handbags are usually expensive but they don’t need their own theatre seat! 😂

Having been to tonight's show at the Liverpool Empire, this really was a fun night out at the theatre. Having waited such a long time to see Linzi perform as the Narrator and then getting the chance to see her both at the Palladium last year and at tonight's show, it really was worth the wait. Linzi for me is a MT star and seeing her perform in different shows over the years both in the WE and on tour is an absolute joy to watch and hear her sing. Tonight, was no exception and being able to get a front stalls ticket was worth every penny of my £29 ticket to hear her perform those great Joseph numbers. Linzi really has got some great comic timing and during GGGJ she even played the jailer with a scouse accent which went down really well with the audience.
Listening to some comments from several patrons during the interval, they were a bit confused by some of the staging decisions taken by the Director Laurence Connor. Having the kids playing adults and Linzi playing additional roles raised some eyebrows by some folk and one lady sat behind me who had probably seen one of the many previous BK tours described tonight's show as "Joseph on acid". No doubt many folk tonight were big Jason D fans as he got a massive cheer when he appeared on stage in Act 2 (his diction when he sings has certainly not improved from when I saw him last year). Jac was just as great tonight as he was last year and his CED number was a definite highlight for me.
Having got a seat closer to the stage it allowed me a better view of those camel bicycles. I really couldn't appreciate them fully in my London viewings but tonight they are actually really a great design. Also, I absolutely love this technicolor coat. A really nice design in my opinion.
With Joseph MD John Rigby back to lead the orchestra which is a smaller one for the tour (a 10-piece orchestra compared to the 14-piece one used in London), the ALW score still sounds as good and the final mega-mix (which for me is still one of the best mega-mixes in MT) was just as much fun as ever along with the final playout music.

I went to see it tonight at the Empire, and I loved it! What a joyously night out! A proper family show, and by the end nearly everyone was on their feet. There was one sulking boy on the front row who refused to get up, whereas what I assume was his brother nearly catapulted himself into the pit with excitement.
Linzi is just amazing - she is so warm and hilariously funny, and her vocals are spot on. As David said, her jailer with a Scouse accent went down a storm.
Jac Yarrow was brilliant too, great vocals.
Jason Donovan got huge cheers, but as David mentioned his diction leaves a lot to be desired. Couldn't understand half of his lyrics.
The rest of the company and the orchestea are amazing.
I thought the staging was brilliant, really enjoyed it.
What Hannah Lowther did for Heathers on TikTok, Iván Fernández González (aka Ivan Fergon) did a bit for Joseph. As an off stage swing he was a bit startled to get a few cheers and happy birthdays at stage door, despite not having performed in the last two weeks. Very nice guy though.

Was at The Empire this evening too Whilst I enjoyed it, I didn't feel as though it was as good as at the Palladium. Some of the staging seemed to have been scaled down and the loss of the central revolve/tier was noticeable. Linzi definitely makes the show worthwhile, she always looks like she is having so much fun up there but I still don't see the appeal of Jason D to so many people! It's criminal that Jac gets such a low billing. In the programme he's listed after Linzi and Jason.
First time I've been back in the Empire for years and remembered why I'd not been back. Some of the audience had a very short attention span- there were people leaving their seats a few songs into both Acts and one couple left during the start of "Go go go Joseph" and came back again just as it ended. Most irritating though was someone started singing along to Any Dream reprise so everyone then joined in.
