Finally rebooked our tickets to see Linzi after our original tickets were cancelled for 1st July. I am so excited I could burst (the cancellation was a blessing in disguise in a way). The vhs with Linzi and Donny Osmond was on everyday when I was younger! That was Maria Friedman Linzi and Maria were in Joseph together?

I feel a bit sorry for the understudies - it's such a short run are they ever gonna get to go on? Fabulous for Linzi though and the lucky audiences seeing her!!Hope Alexandra feels better soon

They do have more chance in this show than many, but it would most likely be if Linzi was indisposed for one of her scheduled dates (as it's unlikely Alexandra would be on standby like Linzi seems to be).

This is also why you have a special alternate such as Linzi Hateley to step in to these performances as it keeps the audience happy. Many will go in not knowing who she is for these additional dates and will quite likely come away thinking whoa, who was THAT!

I’ve had a few friends in this week when have been made up to find out that it was Linzi performing, especially as they bought tickets 2 years ago and don’t live close enough to get last minute tickets like I did.

The show is played to casting directors, agents and sometimes a small invited audience. The "show" is not advertised and the public don't attend. It's not the same as "going on" in front of a paid audience, but it's performed at show level.

Oooh I knew they did a cover run last week but I thought that was like a dress rehearsal! Interesting, thanks!

Often at Understudy Runs there can be a really good sized audience, as the cast can invite friends, fellow performers, and sometimes drama schools - so the understudies should get a warm experience of doing the show.

At risk of starting a frenzied campaign - I looked up Linzi Hately's age, and all I'll say is: "Nothing's wrong with being Fifty"...

I'd actually love to see someone closer to Norma's actual age take the role sometime, though I suppose fifty now doesn't look like fifty did back when that show is set! Maybe in ten years or so for Linzi!

Ahhh the premium role of leading lady theatre. I would adore Linzi to have a crack at Norma. It's not something I would classically have seen her in but she is SUCH a good singer and actress there's no reason why she shouldn't be sensational. Although her gorgeous voice is so unique it's not how I envisage Norma sounding but I don't doubt she can make the role her own.
Before that though, having seen Cinderella recently, I am utterly convinced that the next Norma should be Victoria Hamilton-Barritt. She's an icon and would absolutely SLAY. And I do hope someone is planning this. She's be at the EP end of camper Normas, but nothing wrong with that.

All lovely ideas but are we not ready to rest ‘Sunset’ for a bit? It has been done to death now?

All lovely ideas but are we not ready to rest ‘Sunset’ for a bit? It has been done to death now? I'd be ready for the triumphant return of the Adelphi version* But no, otherwise you are indeed correct. (*never gonna happen)

She’s incredible anyway. I saw a film called Old last night about rapid ageing cos of some geomagnetic effect so maybe wherever she lives there’s like the opposite effect going on!!

The likes of Patti, Elaine, and Glenn were in their 40's when the first played the role.

Performances cancelled until 17th August due to COVID. Was supposed to be there tonight. :-( Has this been announced? Email from TodayTix: We’ve been informed that Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Palladium Theatre have had to cancel performances up until 17th August.
A message from the show:
“The producers of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and the London Palladium are very sorry to confirm that performances have had to be suspended until Tuesday 17 August.
There has been a single positive case of Covid identified within the company, and whilst the rest of the cast and backstage team have also since been tested and reported negative tests, the Government’s track and trace regulations now force all close contacts into isolation, resulting in the cancellation of performances.”
