I’m guessing this is related to Romeo and Juliet.

Both Evita and JCS casting news - it's a big week for ALW productions!

For the record, -isms are based in historical power imbalances so although it's possible to be prejudiced against white people, it's not possible to be racist against white people, in the UK and US and similar at least (obviously things get a bit more complicated when you head out to places like Finland). "Reverse racism" just ain't a thing. I know that that's the dogma that people in committees come up with, but actually it's not true.

It's not "racism against the whites" if people want to give a show a standing ovation, Paul.

Do we actually know who’s in talks for this?

Do we actually know who’s in talks for this? RPOAT tweeted earlier today that this week they'd announce Eva, Che, Peron, and the Mistress, but the tweet has since been deleted 👀

If they get someone notable for the Mistress for example, you'll really get a sense of how they are approaching this production.

Maybe they can convince Tina Arena to come back to London's leafy not-so West End?

I want someone who has never played Eva before to play the role.
... unless it's Louise Dearman. She can come back.

It's not "racism against the whites" if people want to give a show a standing ovation, Paul. Doesn't really fit, your attempted witticism, does it? And when you refer to "people [who]want to give a show a standing ovation," you are omitting mention of other people, namely, those sitting behind whom the former lot selfishly prevent from seeing the bows/finale.

I'm thinking of standing when she hits the big notes in A New Argentina, because that is achievement to do that night after night. 😂😂

I was so disappointed hearing them sung the octave down on the Kenwright tour a few years ago. It sucks so much excitement out of the number.

I spent a good half hour discussing that song and how it gets lowered with a few members on twitter earlier tonight. 😂😂

I was so disappointed hearing them sung the octave down on the Kenwright tour a few years ago. It sucks so much excitement out of the number. The thing is it's only lowered the first 2 times so I don't see why they wouldn't just do it as it was originally written? I suppose it's just to protect the singer's voice but it does lose so much oomph.

If they're not interested in having it sung properly, or are just going to lower the keys, then maybe they should cast Sheridan Smith

Haven’t heard of any of them. Probably because they all appear to be coming over from America to do this. Lloyd was clearly looking for ethnically appropriate cast members, so I wonder how much of the casting he did over there? Hopefully there will be some home-grown talent in the ensemble. I’m excited though!

Yes, seemed like ethnically focused casting was the priority above home-grown talent...

We should welcome this casting. It seems we were getting to a point about a year ago where the same few faces were being mentioned for everything (whether it was the case or not)and with this and his baby Joseph it seems like ALW is taking the right sort of risks. I know it’s not him casting them, but yknow what I mean.

I’m liking the look of the artwork. So it’s modern dress by the looks of it. Exciting!
Now I just need to get a cagoule sorted.
