Another great idea - as is Stasia's for a New Year version. I’m up for something between Christmas and early NY too. Hell, based on how easy this has been to organise so far, I’d be happy to sort the next one. Let’s get this one locked down first?

Well apparently we’re Saturday night people. 8th, 15th and 22nd are the frontrunners. I do love how quickly we’re getting to a consensus on this. Wondering - shall I do another doodle and we vote again on those three dates? This is why I am not a data scientist - I don’t have a sense of if they are highest voted because the majority of people can do all of them, or if we have different groups for each. Hit like if you’re happy to go to a second vote. Comment if you’d like to make a passionate plea for a specific date. I would prefer the 8th as I can't do the 15th and the 22nd is purely for selfish reasons of it being so close to Christmas, however I can make the journey if everyone else wants.

Without wanting to hijak an ace thread, some may find it difficult making it down to London pre-Christmas. Would there be any interest in an additional Theatre Board North drinks in that limbo period between Christmas and New Year? Manchester or Liverpool? Maybe we could get a moderator to change the title of the original thread to “Christmas drinks - London edition” and we do a new thread for the north? ETA - because I think it’s a great idea to have northern drinks, not because I think you are highjacking a thread. Title changed. Bear in mind I can add a poll if you want to manage further voting and show outcomes within this thread.

@burlybear that would be great. Just the three Saturdays and then I can move on to finding a venue :-)

I’ve taken down the Doodle and we’ll move to a final poll of the three Saturdays on here.

Poll added, top of page. I’ve done it so you can select any one, two or all three dates.

Just saw that central line train drivers are threatening to strike the weekend before Christmas. They are very militant so chances are they will do it. Might affect some of you if drinks are 22nd Dec.

Hi! I’m down in London on 15th Dec for the day only for Xmas shopping. I’m heading back in the evening or I’d love to come! If anyone is in Covent Garden in the afternoon on that day, I’ll happily have a mulled wine with you! I may or may not be with friends, but I’d love to say hi to you lot!

I meant to get to the last meetup but couldn't. Perhaps I'll manage this one. (Depends on the weather. Before I learnt to drive I coped with anything the weather could throw at me. Now I don't have to walk to the station I don't do rain.)

Not my plan but may I suggest if any of us stay later, the Phoenix Arts Club is always fun and suitably theatrical!

Not my plan but may I suggest if any of us stay later, the Phoenix Arts Club is always fun and suitably theatrical! My next question was going to be ideas for venue. I’m seeing Curious Incident that night so I am thinking very much West End :-) What’s the Phoenix like early doors? Potential venue for a 5pm-ish meet-up?

There's also the option to book there too.

It's tough because as many of us want to obviously go but it's a tough time of the year as it can be tough to travel, everyone is busy etc. It's a shame because it's a lovely idea

So I think the 15th carries it!
Sorry to anyone that can’t do that night. But it’s the will of the people. Oh cripes. Am having a flashback to Brexit. Hope Russian bots haven’t tampered with the result?
If you can put the date in the diary, I’ll sort a venue. Am thinking a 5.30/6pm start for people going to shows afterwards?
(If you are coming and going to a show after LMK which one and I can try and layer that in to the location.)

34 votes by 25 voters.... whatever happened to one person one vote? Vote early...vote often. (The achilles heel of Democracy.) Please consider me as a reserve. WLTM but... NB the Phoenix Arts Club gets a second vote from me. It's never that busy when I've been there but you are talking about pre theatre dining time.

34 votes by 25 voters.... whatever happened to one person one vote? Could it be the fact that people were invited to select dates they could do, so some chose more than one? Then the most popular won.
