I hope someone can help. I’m writing the biography of the prolific actor/extra Guy Standeven. On April 6th 1986 (which was a Sunday) he filmed either a film or TV programme at the, then, Albery Theatre . I know this as he mentions it in a letter to his sister but doesn’t say what it was that he was filming. This is a bit of shot in the dark but someone may remember seeing the theatre used in something around 86/87.

For what it's worth, why don't you tweet the question? You may just find the answer that you're looking for.

Good idea. I’ve posted it on my Twitter account Standeven Searcher. Cheers.

You would think this would be easier to find out then it is. I contacted the theatre who referred me to their activist. No luck. None of his known credits from 86/87 involve scenes in a theatre so it is obviously one of his many other uncredited appearances. There must be a way of finding out.

Maybe you can visit the IMDB site to check all films and TV shows the actor appeared in 86 and 87. I saw that he was in a Yes, Prime Minister episode called The Patron of the Arts. He was the Master of Cerimony of a National Theatre award ceremony. Maybe the episode was filmed there. It was aired in 1988, but could have taped the year before. I am sure that this show and much more can be found in YouTube. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. It was I who watched that episode of Yes, Prime Minister (on Youtube) and submitted the entry to IMDB as I have done with a huge amount of his credits. His scene is a studio set and the other scene is a real location. Guy doesn't appear in the location scenes. He also states in the letter to his sister the exact date. Sunday, April 6th, 1986 and that he didn't film his scene on stage until late at night as they were filming outside as well. So it must be something else. We will get to the bottom of this.

Could it have been a scene that was cut? Is it worth trying to follow up production contacts for credited staff on that episode so see if any of them know?

I think we can rule out Yes Minister due to the two year gap. Whatever Guy filmed was in 1986. The episode he was in was 1988. From filming to air date isn’t that long especially in a sitcom. It will be one of his unknown credits. He said that the filming went on for hours and his ‘bit’ was on stage. So he was probably playing an actor in a play.

Dear Theatre Goers My book on Guy Standeven is now available to buy on Amazon. The title is Who's That Guy? The Sometimes 'Knightmare' Life of an Unknown Actor. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08FP54XCW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I would like to thank you all for your help in trying to identify the Albery filming. Alas, I never did find out what the production was but there are many other tales in the book about the various theatre productions he appeared in over the years. A book about an unknown but much-loved actor is something of a niche interest but I think I have told his story well and hope, of course, you buy a copy! Best wishes, Marcus
