The whole week leading up to Black Friday, plus Cyber Monday after sees all the main ticket agencies put up offers. They are often just the ones their competitors had previously, but there are usually a fair few new ones if you look and have something specific in mind. I'd check Encore, Fromtheboxoffice.co.uk and Ticketmaster in particular, plus get on the LW theatres website mailing list as they often put out deals for shows in their houses. Thanks @theatremonkey. I’ll be looking out for the upcoming new musical openings, so Cinders, &Juliet, White Christmas and GFTNC. I’m guessing they may be less inclined to be doing massive offers.

What an absolutely fantastic piece of musical theatre this is. I really came to this with only a limited knowledge of the story, though what great 2.5hrs entertainment that was at the Liverpool Playhouse. Audrey Brisson’s performance as Amelie was worth the ticket price alone. From listening to comments made by other patrons tonight, both in the interval and on our way out, everyone really seemed to enjoy this production. A thoroughly deserved standing ovation at the end of the show.
I thought the use of the actor-musician style worked really well with this production rather than having a separate orchestra. The score was fantastic to listen to
Casting wise, a great cast here in my opinion that really did a great job and certainly I couldn’t fault any of the cast from watching tonight’s performance.
The fantasy sequences really did bring a smile to my face and the Elton John scene at the end of Act 1 for me was just very funny. The shop scene in Act 2 certainly brought a few smiles to people’s faces. The gnome jokes and song were definite highlights for me.

I had a wonderful time down in Liverpool last Wednesday seeing this.
it was my fourth time seeing the show. this time from the front row. What can I say, it was absolutely phenomenal again! Read further at your own risk. I apologise for the gushing spew that follows…
The show itself is just so beautiful. Based on the 2001 French film of the same name (which I still haven’t seen). It's very quirky and sometimes surreal. This at times leads to hilarious moments like a dancing garden gnome, suicidal goldfish and nightmarish Figs! It’s unmistakable Frenchness (is that a word 😂) adds a charm to it as well and I don’t think the show could work nearly as well without it, like they appear to have tried on Broadway.
At its heart though it's all about human connection and the need for it. This theme leads to some very powerful touching moments as we follow Amelie’s journey, trying to figure out the world around her.
“Amelie” is played by Audrey Brisson who is just extraordinary in the role, giving a very energetic yet nuanced performance. She perfectly captures the quirks and vulnerabilities of her character, and is amazingly captivating, drawing you in to Amelie’s world every moment she is on stage, which is a lot. She’s hardly off it! Her voice is beautiful too. I’d never heard of or seen her in anything before but will definitely be keeping an eye on her in the future – She’s an absolute star!
She’s joined by an extremely talented group of actor-musicians who all work so hard playing the various other characters in the show and bringing the beautiful score to life, effortlessly working together to create something quite magical. They’re all such a joy to watch. I’ve never seen a company of actors quite like them. It was great also getting to see Chris Jared this time as "Nino" (having seen Danny Mac the previous 3 times) he was excellent!
Talking of the score. It’s just lovely, filled with rich, gorgeous melodies enhancing the emotional moments of the piece so well when they come. “The Girl With the Glass” is a stunning example of this. Special mention also has to be given to the musical arrangements which beautifully evoke the Parisian setting and are so different to the previous Broadway incarnation – in the best possible way. Side note. If this production does not get a cast recording, it’ll be such a crime. The cast performing this score, with these new arrangements is really something to behold and deserves to be preserved. Plus I really, really want a CD 😂
The set design is brilliant too. The highlight being Amelie’s apartment, situated behind a clock-face at the top of the stage, that requires Amelie to be whisked up by a flying lampshade in order to reach it!
So, as you can probably tell by now, I absolutely adore this show. It’s my new favourite and brings such joy to my heart every time I see it! Maybe that's a given though from someone who’s seen it 4 times and traveled down to Liverpool to see it from the front row 😂
I will be seeing it again at the Other Palace and would highly recommend anyone In or near London to give this one a shot. I did, not knowing anything about the film, and am very very glad I made that decision.
Now to go and seek out the original film me thinks…

Great to read such a glowing review Pennywise57. I caught it in Wimbledon and I greatly enjoyed it, much more so than the film. I struggled to hear some of the words and I detested the Elton John song but I adored Audrey B and the sparky, creative production. One of the best actor-musician productions around. I hope a cast recording gets made

I loved the show when I saw it in Wimbledon, saw it 3 times in Southampton and am seeing it at The Other Palace (immediately before a trip to Paris!) It is the only show I have seen 3 times in a week but who knows when if it it will be back. I am excited to see another Nino, nothing against Danny but I love seeing other interpretations. Part of me would love to see someone take on Amelie. Audrey is perfect but would be great to see another take on the massive role! I watched the broadway version recently and it really didn’t work for me. I thought I’d miss young Amelie (if listened to the OBC recording many times) but the uk version was so beautiful in the interpretation of those parts. I can’t wait for my January trip and hope it isn’t the lad I see of the production.

Once I knew this was coming to The Other Palace I planned to see it there as it's a much more convenient location and with a longer run. However (kicking myself now) even some weeks ago when I checked, I found I had left it too late for an affordable ticket so I will have to hope for offers/day seats.

Wish I could share the enthusiasm for the London run but this was honestly one of the most tedious, boring musicals I sat through this year. Each to their own.

Fair enough, it's funny how we all see things differently. To me this has gone right up to the top of my list becoming my favourite musical, I find it so powerful and uplifting. it's not something I would ever describe as tedious or boring, but the world would be a very dull place if we all thought exactly the same about everything.

I could just buy the cheapest ticket (£19.50) but if there were deals or the theatre was doing day seats, I'd rather spend a bit more for a better seat. Anyone know of any offers, or whether TOP is doing day seats, please?

Thank you for the suggestion, Jane Parfitt , but I didn't want to pay as much as £30 or to wait until January to see this. So, no thanks to the theatre website or box office number (unable to book the seat I chose due to the "leaving a single seat" issue or to get through to the box office despite trying 3 times and holding for ages), I managed eventually, using a different and unpublished number, to book a cheap seat for yesterday's matinee. And what a fabulous experience it was! Absolutely worth the long wait for the tour to reach a convenient venue (and in the case of The Other Palace, one which is suitable for this particular production): I was captivated and entranced, loved every minute and could even envisage seeing it again, though I probably won't have time. As there was no mention of this on the website and I had been unable to speak to a box office staff member on the main number, I had been unable to find out whether the theatre did day seats or concessions but thought I should have had a good chance of a day seat as more than half the seats appeared unsold, even on the day. However, the actual performance was almost sold out so I'm mystified as to how so many tickets were shifted in so short a time. I can't believe they had all been sold via agencies and I certainly hadn't found any deals or offers. And apparently day seats ARE available for £25 (so why not put this on the website?), but of course there were none left by the time I arrived.

A very talented cast in what I thought was a slightly disjointed musical. It was good fun and a lot of the music was very pretty but the story didn't seem to flow well to me and I thought the love story was a bit too underdeveloped (though I guess that comes with the whimsical/fantastical nature of the show). Still overall I enjoyed it just not as much as I hoped considering the raves from critics/board members.

That was where I sat, ie the cheaper rows at the front; same price for the rear few but having tried the rear stalls once, never again: too distant for me. I was actually in row C, which I preferred to A and B as C is very slightly above stage level, whereas the other 2 are lower, but you'd have a great view from any of those 3 rows.
