I'm so pleased I wasn't drinking a cup of coffee when I logged on this morning. 😭

No Elaine Paige show on Radio Two today. Perhaps it was pre-recorded before Friday and would have been inappropriate to broadcast with no mention of the late Duke Of Edinburgh ?

Apologies to those who disagree, but this is becoming too much. Sad as it is, life goes on and what better to lift the spirits than a ShowTune? When I heard that dreary Adele just after 1pm, my heart actually sank. Thank God for my own Spotify playlist and also the Sounds of Broadway app which is remarkable for the breadth of content. It's better than EPOS!

I watched the first 2 programmes and a bit of the concert. Have saved the rest foe today. Loved the old BBC clips of her singing and can remember seeing a few of them especially the 2 Ronnie's ones. The Evita documentary was facinating and don't know why I hadn't seen it before as it is quite old now.

Lovely seeing some classic performance footage 😀 I can't believe they actually went there and recovered that hilarious One Night in Bangkok performance and decided to air that. It's a favourite of mine because the choreography is just...well, look at it:

I bet she choreographed it herself. No one got paid for it, surely.

Oh I wet myself at that the other day. Was there ever more offensively 80’s choreo?

Not sure if this should be posted here [mods tbc] but.......why does she continue to MISPRONOUNCE Sondheim as SONDIME. Does Elaine not have an aspirant? ? A tweet to her months ago remains ignored but she happily and correctly announces StreiSAND........Jess Rickson is her "guardian" and it's becoming something of a joke to read her fangirl tweets. Isn't also sad that the BBC wouldn't broadcast the words "tits" and "ass" when playing Nathan Lane's KING OF BROADWAY. This show has so very many qualities but the lack of attention to detail is driving me mad.

Is anyone listening to the EP show today? It's unintentionally hilarious as she's paying tribute to the late Queen (really laying it on thick!) whilst still managing to make it all about herself at the same time.

I came to reassess my fondness for Paige when she was waxing lyrical about Margaret Thatcher following the latter's demise. Made me wonder if some of the chatter about what she's really like wasn't entirely inaccurate.

She was fab in todays ‘Father Brown’. Died in her chair and didn’t sing a note.

She was fab in todays ‘Father Brown’. Died in her chair and didn’t sing a note. I agree Dan - and much better than she was in 'Midsomer Murders' a few years back, which was not at all good. Okay, she was never destined for the RSC but she's underrated as a (non-singing) actress. Her 'Piaf' was extraordinary and would have been without the songs. I'm sure much of that was down to Sir Peter Hall but that's to take nothing from an acting performance as good as any I've seen.

There’s something to be said for staying in your lane and knowing what you’re good at. Gently dotty.

The judges on The Masked Singer thinking that Knitting was EP made me laugh. She never would've hit some of those high notes in her prime let alone now!
