Having watched this at today’s matinee, this is definitely the wackiest play I’ve watched in my week in NY. It’s basically 2 guys on stage for around 90mins doing all the characters. I definitely applaud these guys as a lot of the character changes happen so fast that I’m surprised there aren’t any slip ups during the show. The staging is minimal, and that’s no exaggeration. It’s that basic that the guys use a chalk board to write the location of where each scene is set. Doing it this way does actually work in the style of the play and adds a little extra charm to the proceedings in my opinion. It’s great fun and definitely something where you don’t need to concentrate. As the theatre is really small, there aren’t any bad seats. Though it’s a shame that whilst well attended, it wasn’t full.
We we had some fun preshow as quite a few people decided not to bother looking at the seat and row identification tags and so ended up in the wrong seats and so we had a nice little version of musical chairs (but without the music) when people had realised their mistake.
Overall a fun afternoon and worth considering watching if you want a bit of light theatre going.
