This is being filmed and streamed for free online, avaliable for 72 hours from 30th November.
I'm greatly annoyed. I certainly wouldn't have wasted money on a ticket if they'd put the news about this out earlier, what a con.

Perhaps we should cut the Hampstead some slack though. They need to sell their tickets, before sharing the production for free, or they wouldn't be able to keep going. And the Hampstead have the most generous record on this sort of thing, including sharing "Drawing the Line" and "Firebird" online previously, and in this case, they might even turn some "Game of Thrones" fans into theatregoers.

Yeah, they cant risk ticket sales with pre-warning of this!

I can't make up my mind about this. The 'twist' at least gave point to the preceding 80 minutes but it felt very melodramatic after the downbeat nature of the main part of the play. A good performance from Maisie Williams and an absolutely cracking one from Zach Wyatt - fresh out of GSA - I'd love to see him in other stuff.

This is now being streamed free on ‘IGTV’. Downloaded the IGTV app and found that the whole thing has been recorded in PORTRAIT! I was hoping to be able to airplay it to my Apple TV and watch it on the big screen, but apparently not.

Is there any desktop workaround on this or do I have to watch on my phone?

gets you the desktop site. no way to escape from portrait, though, it seems.

gets you the desktop site Thanks! I haven't used Instagram video before. I imagine most of the target demographic watch stuff on iphones, but it's great they're doing this. I wish more theatres would do something like this at the end of their run: NT live is expensive and judging by the audience at my Liverpool local the demographic attracted to that is even older than the typical theatre audience.

Thanks for this. I'll give this a go over the weekend, but as much as I appreciate they are doing a good thing and targeting the Instagram generation watching on smart phones, I am apprehensive. I recently watched a Xavier Dolan film that was in 1:1 ratio for the most part, which took a bit of getting used to, but the whole direction was planned with this in mind. I'm struggling to see how a non-landscape view will do justice to the production. Can't teenagers just turn their phones sideways?

I'm struggling to see how a non-landscape view will do justice to the production. I think they did it well, though I was watching on a large desktop rather than my phone - the picture was very clear and they used split screens where reaction shots were needed. The only downside was that it seems to have been recorded without an audience, and I missed hearing that interactive element. Oddly, it felt closer to the theatre experience than the cinema NT live 'Madness of King George' or 'Beware of Pity' watched online, though both of those were from large theatre spaces - this felt much more intimate and engaging.

I enjoyed watching this tonight and the viewing experience wasn't too bad on my phone.
Took me ten minutes to get into but I found this fast paced and light entertainment. I liked the twist too. Not a play I would have spent big money on had it transferred but cute nonetheless.
