Hi, im currently in this program and in my next session I have to pick one musical theatre piece (which i have already chosen - Santa fe)
We also have to pick another song and use the lyrics as a monologue.
My plan was to join them together but I cant seem to find a song that relates to santa fe lyrically other than the songs from newsies, which i dont want to use
Cheers

I'm interested to hear the final outcome.
Theres a couple of quite crucial details you've missed that would help influence suggestions.
Does it go monologue > song or the reverse? If its the former, Santa Fe is a classic Disney 'I Want' song so you want something lyrically that shows contempt or frustration with a situation to provoke the I want response.
Which version of Santa Fe are you using? The prologue or the mid-show? The prologue would be far easier to tie into a monologue as it's a little less specific situationally. The mid-show version obviously reference characters and events in the show, so that's probably why you're struggling to find something from another show that correlates. If it is the prologue, theres a number of references to the west (West US) and crops etc, so possibly something Oklahoma direction/era, but I'm not familiar with that generation of musicals so cant suggest much.
And why did you pick Santa Fe? Cos you like it or does it showcase your talents best, or something else? If your looking to make a good impression via the whole delivery you maybe better finding two songs that work together more effectively than going headfirst into a specific choice and trying to shoehorn the second in.
