Ha! I was thinking that of her as Celia too. Wonder if she'd do a UK tour though.

Stick a couple of Nolans in it, plus anyone who ever appeared in Vagina Monologues. And Su Pollard. It will go like a rocket 🚀 . Su Pollard was sat in front of me when I saw it at the Lowry so I wouldn't be surprised that she was checking it out

I can imagine Debbie Chazen staying on, and there are some names/mt names they could cast. I do have a list (although not all are northern ladies) Bonnie Langford - Annie Rebecca Thornhill - Chris Jodie Prenger - Cora Tracey Ann Oberman - Celia Lin Blakley - Jessie That's an interesting cast idea. I think Sharon D Clarke could make a good Cora or Mica Paris? How about Brenda Edwards or Nicola Hughes as Ruth?

Hmm I may be tempted into seeing this again on May 23rd, before Annie in the evening. I'll have to look into it, hopefully I can get a closer seat than the Upper though to properly enjoy The "assets".
LOL joke, I'm gay.

I doubt we will ever see Sharon D Clarke in this but I think she would actually be a fantastic Ruth, she could really show off some fabulous acting grit on the 'My Russian Friend' scene

I had thought she would be good at the big swing number for Cora but actually she would be better as Ruth and would act it really well. Talking about Nicola Hughes, she could make a good Cora or Celia or maybe Mica Paris as Cora? Someone like Lesley Joseph would probably play Jessie on tour and she would be good st the comedy part

I would be surprised if it does extend past July. It's being comped a fair bit this week and next week for example Never a great sign

I'd rebrand it as Calendar Girls - The Musical before I hawked it round the provences. Stop pretending, just go for the demographic deep and hard. Get some money back on this muthafunster. The investors are entitled to that.

I've heard of producers giving comps to friends/families etc, is that all it is? Why would people give the random public free tickets for good seats?

Basically its producers giving away free tickets to people in their business, family and friends, and the people in their business can request comps for their families and friends too within reason. Its not random members of the public for the most part, it is generally the people you know that gets you free tickets or cheaper tickets. And they are not always offered, only generally if a performance is quiet, or if it needs a boost in numbers for word of mouth/promotion etc.

Surely this is a risky gamble to delay announcing an extension? They'll then go into the Summer with no advance whatsoever and I feel that this show attracts the type of person who plans their theatregoing well in advance.

Don't forget there's the upcoming West End Live.
Surely that'll generate some interest and out some bums on seats.

Oh I love Rebecca Thornhill, she would make a great Chris.

When is it extending until? Also zak97, I was reading the quotes of the week in The Stage & Sharon D Clarke stated that "As a musical actress, a lot of the work I do is American. I would like to see more British musicals that are multiracial. I don't always want to be telling the American perspective. We have been here long enough to tell our own stories"This could and probably does suggest that she would and do a show like The Girls is asked.

West End Live, in truth, doesn't provide that much of a boost, because the main bulk of people who go are either passers by who just want to see whats going on, and theatre fans who already see every show. Its a very long event so alot of the passers by dont stay past lile two or three performances because they all have places to be. And, woth no disrespect to any shows, but shows like Kinky Boots, Les Mis and Wicked look visually alot more eye catching and appealing than a show that just has standard costumes and design, so the public are more inclined to watch those performances.
