I think they’ve cast Annie spot on here. The London cast were incredible in my opinion, but, apart from Denise, Fern and Anna Jane Casey, I don’t know of any of these ladies. I was, in all honesty, hoping for a cast that would make me rush to want to go again. So far, this sadly hasn’t - but I’ll wait to see who plays the other roles.

Rebecca Storm has had a very successful career. Her roles include Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers. Eva Peron in Evita, Fantine in Les Misérables, Florence in Chess, Rose in Aspects of Love and Edith Piaf in Piaf

Was just about to say, Rebecca Storm has a fantastic repertoire of roles behind her.
Seems like producers are damned if they do stunt casting and damned if they don't. I think here, we have a great mix, and the show will hopefully thrive out on tour. I will really miss the London cast because they were all so wonderful, but I'm excited to see the new tour.

Apart from Fern and Denise, which of these ladies would be thought of as being ‘stunt casted’?

But not the others Very interesting, really not that familiar with this cast but if they’ve gone down the previous casting route and tried to keep stunt casting to a minimum (Michele was the only stunned casted actress in London and she was brilliant) then I really admire them. Could have been very easy to stunt cast all roles in this I imagine. Interested to see who will play the Miss Wilson’s and Danny/Tommo/Jenny.

One thing I really hope they do is not market the show around Fern - that’s not me saying I dislike Fern, but this show is all about the ensemble of ladies as the ‘Calendar Girls’.

How exactly is Michele Dotrice "stunt casting"? She was in Betty in ‘Some Mother do have ‘em’. Yes, not necessarily a massive casting - but a strong career and a recognisable face, I imagine, for the majority of the target audience (which I categorise, personally, as being the more elderly female market).

I think the definition of stunt casting is when they pick somebody for attention's sake over much more suitable candidates e.g. Rihanna in Battleship or Madonna in that episode of Will & Grace. Michele Dotrice is just good casting.

Rebecca Storm and Anna Jane Casey - great.
I know Fern Britton studied stage management, but does she have any acting credits at all? I mean, acting credits with a little more meat than a two-minute cameo as a television presenter? (She's done about half a dozen of those, according to IMDB).

I can already visualise Anna Jane Casey singing Kilimanjaro, she’ll be brilliant.

I think the definition of stunt casting is when they pick somebody for attention's sake over much more suitable candidates I generally consider it stunt casting when someone is cast who would never have been auditioned had they not been famous.

Generally speaking, (like most on here) I loathe stunt casting, but on the whole this isn’t dreadful. Especially when you consider that the touring play was always packed with “names” from TV soaps and the like. Denise has proven herself a credible musical theatre actress previously, and Fern’s character is the least demanding of the female roles as she won’t have to sing a solo. My slight concern is that Fern Britton isn’t exactly well known for her acting chops but I’m keeping an open mind.

According to Baz’s full article, they are reworking Celia and Cora a bit, with a new song for Cora. I just hope they don’t cut ‘Silent Night’ as that was a real highlight.
