The writing was on the wall, sadly. I wonder if the London cast will be involved in the tour.

Its a shame that its closing, and I do think they got the pricing wrong when it first opened. That said I think it be a success when it goes on tour.

Heard a rumour about a touring show being interested in an Autumn slot at the Phoenix. Would love a transfer for Chichester's Sweet Bird of Youth but I suspect something like Vincent and Flavia will get the vacant slot instead.

Just booked my closing night ticket. Will be making another visit next month too. For all I was slightly undecided on my first visit I've completely fallen in love with this show.

I've made no secret of my love for this show, so I'm very saddened to see it finish in London so soon. As for the cast, I can't imagine they will all travel with it, but I'm prepared to be proven wrong. A great shame in my opinion.

Its a big gap before the tour so I would guess other work would take priority. I didn't like the show itself, just not my thing but I loved some of the performances so it would be nice if some happened to be free when it tours

Didn't even make it To 10 months Bend it Bend it ๐๐ That's about 50 people, lots with young families, unexpectedly losing their jobs you're laughing at. This business is cutthroat enough without actual theatre aficionados revelling in untimely closures.

I think this was a decent show that was marketed terribly. Constantly using Gary Barlow and large choirs rather than showcasing the humour and heart that this has. It completely took away from what made this show great which was that core group of women. What was marketed to me just didn't appeal to me at all and it wasn't until some friends came back with some good feedback that I decided to go. I went in with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not surprised that it's closing but I do think it is a shame.

Let's be perfectly honest about it, Act 1 is pretty dire and the saving grace is the photo shoot near the end. It just isn't good enough, even though there are terrific performances in it.

The title was naff and wrong from the start. Why the hell didn't they just call it Calendar Girls - The Musical? Was it a rights issue or did they really think marketing the same story with a different title was going to work?
Not to mention those godawful sunflowers.

I agree the marketing was terrible. Wheeling out Barlow at every opportunity took away the chance to really sell the show

Yes - I can't stand Gary Barlow so the marketing completely put me off seeing the show.

You've also made this same point several times now regarding many arguments. Sometimes it's good to let go of grievances and move on.

Well hopefully this will be showing the powers that be that Hary Barlow cannot and should not be writing for musical theatre

I've booked again for today's matinee, one extra trip before my last next week. I understand the show has its flaws, but I really feel sorry for the cast. It just seems to show that even talented actresses don't count for much now.

A real shame it is closing but not unexpected as it really wasn't doing all that great ticket sales wise. Will revisit this one before it goes.
