Last night the upper circle was closed and the box office told me they weren't selling any tickets. It was 100% on sale online when I looked earlier today. Yes indeed, but going on yesterdays experience that's not where you would see the show, my guess is they were not selling any tickets for the upper circle in person on the day in the end I bought a day seat for £20 in the stalls front row.

Ah yes sorry, now I understand you. You're right, if they were planning to close a level on a given day they won't sell tickets in person even if it's available online. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

So because daniel wanted an understudy list as his programme doesn't have one as he has one of the old programmes, I typed out the Understudies to send to him. As it was effort, thought I might as well post it here too. It's probably been posted already but here it is again then, the effort may as well be put to use. Notably, other than Miss Wilson, there is only one understudy per role and they are listed under headshots rather than a list, which I think is actually a little bit shady but whatever. Jenny: Victoria Blackburn Lawrence/Colin/Dennis: John Davitt Cora/Ruth: Soo Drouet Annie: Jenny Gayner Rod/John: Steve Giles Danny/Tommo/Doctor: Frazer Hadfield Chris: Shirley Jameson Marie/Lady Cravenshire/Miss Wilson: Jane Lambert Celia/Miss Wilson: Rebecca Louis Jessie/Brenda: Judith Street

I know, for instance, that soo drouet covers miss Wilson, Fraser hadfield covers Lawrence and Claudia Bradley covers Chris. Jane lambert was on for Brenda tonight too. In fact the newest programmes list the second and third covers as well - I just had a look. New cast members have joined it seems.

I only saw the show about a month ago with just first understudies listed and they had programmes with no understudies at all at the beginning of previews. Three programmes in just three months, wow, they are really pissing away their money over there aren't they!

Does anyone have the current up to date covers list? They won't be pissing money away, they'll just have changed the design when they came to re-order their next batch happens quite frequently anyway because adverts change!

Well I went to this musical this evening with Warren, oh boy did we have a good laugh and cry tonight.
I loved the non-linear structure to the songs & just how lyrical they were. I had reversations about the set pre-show but in fact it was all rather clever & it felt right it was rather simple and grounded.
The cast were all on form, I s not the greatest musical to land in the West-End but I thought it was a charming entertaining night at the theatre!
Got to speak to Claire at the end, and just came across a total fan boy saying how much I loved her in 'Made In Dagenham' & 'Titanic'!!!

This is true, but aren't they pissing money away anyway if it isn't making the money it needs to survive anyway?

I saw this again tonight for the first time since previews and, well, basically, what westendcub said ^

Saw this tonight and was disappointed immensely. Except for the last 20 minutes I found the whole thing incredibly dreary. All the songs sounded the same. Also thought the lighting was terrible. People standing in darkness for most of the time.

Also saw it tonight. Wasn't impressed with the songs at all. They just meandered all over the place and were very hard to follow. More a series of random thoughts than anything else.
But I did enjoy the evening as a whole. Thought the cast were great and the dialogue very funny.

Going to try today for a day seat for the matinee but I can't get there for 10 am and would rather not sit in the front row anyway, so hope they will offer me something affordable further back. I've already been twice to try to book ahead, but of course there was nothing in my price range unless I wanted to sit in the back of beyond, so it seems a case of trying on the day or nothing. Shame when they could have had my money upfront and I could have had the security of a booking with no back-up plan required, but I understand their wish to maintain prices for as long as possible.

A new trailer has been released, a better one. With a topless Chris, some dialogue and a proper mix of songs from the show. This is much better a trailer than the original one in my opinion, of course though the one that aired on TV has to fill a 30 second bit though.

The other trailer was just a short teaser-trailer.

Third time lucky today: got a great dress circle seat for £20, for the matinee & though it took time to develop momentum, I ended up really enjoying it.
